A Pet's Ten Commandments...

There has been alot of discussion on here recently about people's pets so I thought it would be alright to post this. Some of you may have already seen this before. I didn't write it. Every pet owner should read this. ~Lisa

Remember that they can't do a lot of things for themselves and that they depend on you to make their life a quality life!

A PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS..........

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.

2. Give me time to understand what you want of me

3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.

4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.

5. Talk to me.. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.

6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.

7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.

8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.

9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.

10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.

~Take a moment today to thank God for your pets. Enjoy and take good care of them.

Life would be a much duller, less joyful experience without God's critters.

It's lovely and yet, sad because it's true. I grabbed all my pets and lavished extra affection on them after reading it.

Omg Caddylisa what a beautiful saying and yes I agree that is written 100 percent true. I know they understand when you talk to them especially when you do and they turn their heads side to side as if to say yes I understand can you say it one more time.... the last commandments as always is bittersweet, while we all wish we could love and keep our pets with us, we must must do the decent unselfish act for them and let them go and be reunited like the rainbow bridge poem reads. Thanks so much. Peace. Catherine

Thank you for sharing this. I had never read it and I love it. However, you really shouldn't make people cry when they're sitting at their desks (yeah, I probably shouldn't be reading this sitting at my desk either, but it's a slow morning).

Very nice! I have three cats and they are so spoiled and it shows. It breaks my heart to see other animals treated with less respect.

Thanks for sharing. Numbers nine and ten really struck me, as we recently had to take our 22-year-old pug, Pugsy, to the vet to be put to sleep due to his old age and related health problems. We stayed with him until it was over.
