I heard that earlier. I've been thinking about her and her family all day. Our family has lost two members due to brain injuries. Making the decision to remove someone you love from life support is incredibly difficult to say the least. So sad.

One of the nurses I work with lost her husband about 3 weeks ago to a ski related head injury. She had gone down the hill first and was waiting on him and he never came down. He ran into a tree.... I cannot imagine how horrific it is to have a fun family outing turn into a death.

That makes me sad-she has always been so stunning. And married to Iliam Neeson, who I also love, just makes it more sad. I remember in college, my first recollection of her was an ethics class-we had to watch the Handmaiden's Tail. And then how amazing was she in Nell. Her sons are young-teens. My heart is laden w/ sadness.

This story is so incredibly sad. When I first read that she was injured in a ski accident, I just assumed that she was an experienced skier. Then I read that it was on the beginner hill, during a lesson. Just goes to show you how dangerous skiing can be. I didn't see disclosed exactly what happened, but I am assuming that she hit her head on the trunk of a tree. What is so amazing about this story is that she was acting fine until about an hour after hitting her head, then complained of a headache and went to the emergency room. She was so young and beautiful, and it's just such a terribly sad story. When I saw a picture of her, I thought that she looked like the woman who played the mother in the newest version of the Parent Trap. So, that was her.

| The witnesses say there was no tree or object involved They say she fell down the bunny hill and seemed fine for about an hour. I guess she must have hit her head on the ground when she fell but who would have thought that a first ski lesson would result in death? I was hoping she'd recover. So sad and so unexpected. I liked her in A Handmaid/s Tale.

I think an autopsy will determine what really happened. There is speculation that it could have been something else that happened in her brain that made her fall or the fall caused an already undiagnosed condition to worsen. That would make sense actually.

It is so very sad. I know skiing is dangerous, have heard of a few celbs getting badly injured or die. My own dd fell in Dec and messed up her knee badly. Skis are supppose did not unlatch when she fell, she cracked the bone in her knee in numerous places. But she was lucky. Who would of thought that skiing on a beginner slope was so dangerous. And the shocking thing is that she was conscience and talking afterward. Then a headache an hour later. That is just so scarey how what I have heard was not even a hard hit on her head could result in her death. I pray for her family.

| My friend's kid had the ski not release when she fell. She had a spiral fracture and ended up having a cast (toes to hips) for 2 mo, then a below the knee one for another 6 weeks.

Such a sad loss. A gorgeous woman with a beautiful family. I never heard bad press about her. Seemed to have been living a wonderful life. I'm sure she was learning to ski or taking a lesson to get better so that she could enjoy this activity with her husband and sons. The cause of death has been released as blunt force trauma to the head. It is possible that maybe she hit her head on her own ski or pole instead of the ground (my speculation) I have always felt safe on the 'bunny hill' of a resort, but there are many beginner trails that are quite scary. DD races for her high school ski team. After this I will worry more. She is also going off for a ski weekend tomorrow with friends. She and all her friends wear their helmets all the time. DH and I do not wear helmets. My excuse has always been that I stick to the beginner terrain. Time to rethink that policy. |
