Secret Life of Amer Teen

Is anyone watching this show? Did anyone find labor/delivery totally unrealistic? Last week on the show she was eating at the hospital in labor. I don't think they allow that. You'd think by now they would be more accurate with this stuff. And I wanted to smack Amy. What a spoiled, rotten, winey baby!! lol

Well, they allow eating if you want to throw up, LOL. Yes, I love this show, but the labor and delivery part was very unrealistic. After she delivered she didn't even look like she had broken a sweat. Amy is whiney anyway, remember she is only 15. And all those people hanging out at the hospital, who does that?

I loved Molly Ringwalds 'look' when Amy wondered if she had a birth canal! OMG, that was sooooo dumb. I loved this show when it started, but it has gone downhill and cheesy. I wanted something more along the lines of a Trauma in the ER type show where the Momma was yelling at her teen and wouldn't let her have pain meds to "teach her a lesson" about not having sex!

Can't wait until next season........

When i had my first the nurses was telling me how the people in the next room had brought up pizza and was in the delivery room hanging out eating til she had the baby like it was a party or something.

My cousin's wifes family hardly left the hospital the whole time she was there. i was only in town for a couple days for a funeral and never got to see the baby cause the room was packed

And yeah really unreal, there wouldnt be snacking and snoozing like that, at least my five labors wasnt even with the epidural on the last one

I read that Molly Ringwald's real life pg is being written into the show. Now that is strange.

I haven't watched the show yet, I have it DVR'd and will watch today.
With my first, I slept from a 4 to a 10 and that wasn't with an epidural. I had a shot of nubain.

I haven't watched the show, and I'll probably make women want to smack me for saying this, but I never broke a sweat in either one of my deliveries. Labor for a couple hours and two pushes and it was over.

LOL. We had way more people when my daughter had her baby!

Smack #2 coming....duck girl duck!

I looked like CRAP with both my kids. I ended up with C sections but I didn't want any photos and I cringe at the ones my DH took.

I just watched my DVR of the show and I thought the people hanging out was realistic. We had a lot of friend/family waiting for us as well. The food thing...not so much. I agree that Amy didn't look like she had a baby. She looked like she just woke up from a nice nap...not realistic compared to my experiences

Well at the end of the show she was telling the architect BF that she would like to experience birth again if the right guy came along....

I agree. I didn't want a lot of people there when i gave birth. My husband was the only one i wanted in the delivery room and after i was so tired i just wanted to enjoy my baby and spend time as a family. I like the show, but the acting is terrible. I can't stand Adrien.

Thats how i was with all 4 of my deliveries. With my first i labored for 4 hours and took 25 minutes to come out and very easy. With my second 2 minutes and he was out..my 3rd 2 minutes, and my 4th it was very quick. Arrived at the hospital and 1 hour later had him. pushed 3 times and he was out. Missed my epidural with my 4th he was so quick.

yeah i figure next season will be who is the daddy to molly ringwald character since she slept with both of them. Even though george had the big V, it still could possibly be his.

Actually, I thought the baby looked real - but way too big. Newborns on tv are always played by at least a 3 month old baby, with open eyes and arms flailing around.

For me labor was no big deal in and out of delivery room in 15 minutes. Since it is a show with young girls watching. I thought they would make it look like it is for most women hard labor pains. Don't make it look like it is no big deal. Amy has to take responsibility since she got herself into the situation. She is going to have to grow up she is going to be a mother the rest of her life.

My 10 year old dd and I watch this show and have from the start. I really wish that they had made it a little harder on Amy the entire time, I feel like they made the whole experiance look not so bad, and being PG at 15 is bad. I had my dd watch this with me because I was looking for the lesson, but between having two 15 year old boys wanting to be the daddy and finding true love with a sweet, rich kid whom didn't mind at all that she is PG with another guys baby- then the perfect set up with the job at the church daycare where she can take her baby for free and still earn money....then the jive labor/delivery scene...seems like it was made to be "not so TUFF"

I agree. It doesn't make having/raising a baby at 15 such a bad thing. I'm sorry but when I was 15, I didn't know any boys my age (and 99% of my friends were boys) who wanted to raise a kid. Throw in the fact that it's someone elses kid....nope, I don't think so. And his parent(s) supporting that decision...hmmmm. I like the show but it's not "reality TV". This is the preggo 15 year old's dream land basically. Everything works out, everyone loves me, everyone will help me and I can still be a kid. Not a great message to send out but I'm not watching it with my kids (who are too young at this point). If I were watching it with my kids, I would be talking back to the screen and my kids telling them how "unreal" the situations actually are

lol Ask my son-I was talking to the tv all the time! "that's so dumb-they won't let you eat while you are in labor" (at a hospital), etc... Yes, it's too bad it's so totally unrealistic. It could have been a great show had it been handled liked real life.
