Just my opinion ...but

I think too many people share WAY too much of their private lives on the internet....like here....and then are hurt when that information is used against them in a discussion.

Now, I am sure, people will counter with that people need someone to share their problems with..... but far too many posts contain TMI. Really , do we need to know the DETAILS of your script drugs, your financial situation, sex life???

That might be true for some.

If someone wants to go through my posts and use stuff I've said against me, go for it. I'm not easily upset by internet discussions.

But for someone that's sensitive it's probably not a good idea to post information that you may later regret.

I agree, but as long as it's nonfiction vs. fiction, then the facts are the facts. These people lay it all out and then whine. Nothing is used against them, they've already done it to themselves. They just don't like not having everyone run to their side in their game with their rules.

Now fiction is another story, some are into that as well !

know that at times I have posted too much of my info but at the time I just needed to to "talk" to someone. I agree that I don't need to know as much info as is posted on this site but I will be here to lend a ear if someone needs to "talk".

I tend to share more about my private life when someone else has a problem and I think it will help them. I don't normally share if I had a huge problem, although I can share about it at a later time. Like 4 almost 5 years ago when my then 18 year old DD had a brain tumor, we went through so much stress, traveling back and forth to the hospital 90 minutes away everyday, still with a younger one at home, all the doctors appointments, etc. I relied heavily on friends, family, church family and prayer. I could not talk about it here. Although now I do not have a problem discussing it if I think it might help someone else through a similiar situation. That is the same with alot of my life.

Wink

Well I have decided recently there are some topics I will not discuss anymore.I used to feel that I could come here and discuss certain topics, however I never thought that discussing certain issues that I felt were important to me would invoke some truly mean spirited nasty comments and I will refrain and will not accept those anymore. However I also thought that while I know we all may never disagree there is no need to get nasty. I think there are some options not to discuss certain issues, if you do be prepared for views that are againist yours or rude comments. Also if the op starts a thread and you do not agree and rather then say something rude just opt to say nothing. Lastly for me personally I would never ever discuss 2 very personal issues for me, my finances and my sex life neither one is in my views obligated to discuss those extremely personal issues for me. But again if you feel you want, you have every right to be able to discuss whatever is bothering you , but it could be at your own risk and frankly it truly should not be like that. Hopefully we are all responsible and mature adults to be able to discuss heated or hot or personal topics... Good thread.. Peace. Catherine

Just keep in mind that besides your "friends" on this site there are thousands of people who either are here just to read the posts, just for the deals, or just to be voyeurs.

Not everyone in the world in nice or friendly or cares about others. Some people just look for things to use to put others down, to judge them as inferior to themselves and to have something to gossip about.

If you truly want to share personal details of your life don't be surprised or offended by the responses you receive. There are literally tens of thousands of people on mycoupons.com and there are just as many opinions on what is right/wrong good/bad appropriate/inappropriate etc etc etc.

I agree with you, suezz. The stuff people are willing to put out there really amazes me. And the funny (sad?) thing is that the ones most willing to share seem to be the ones less able to deal with the plethora of responses they should have come to expect. But I'm glad they make it fun for the rest of us. LOL
