Smile Wife swap - would you do it?

Just watched the tail end of Wife Swap.

How much do they pay families to do this? Didn't they used to give them some money that the visiting wife got to decide how to spend?

Would you and your family be willing to do a swap? Me - NO WAY!!!

What would be the ideal kind of family to swap with? Me - probably a family with a stay-at-home mom who totally dotes on her hubby. That would be a shocker here!! LOL

Never ever would I ever do it no way no how. Personally I could never live in someone else;s home and would not want another women living in my home and more important I would miss my family and my animals way too much. I sometimes feel alot of the show is hype like many other reality shows are. Peace. Catherine

No, I wouldn't do it. I used to watch but not much anymore. Since they match opposites, they would probably match us up with either a religious family or a "positive parenting" family (one of those were it's a kid centric household). Oh, or maybe a meek doormat housewife or a ranching family or vegetarian family....the list could go on forever! I have "hinted" at putting our names in and my family says "we know how good we have it" LOL

Were you watching the "biker" mom and the "Irish" mom?
OMG! That Irish mom who had her kids so scheduled that they were growing up in the car, and if they weren't in "structured" activities they would be in jail, on drugs, spray painting building??? Just way too bizarre...

I actually would be agreeable to it. I think it could be beneficial for my husband, my kids and myself.

I think that was "Trading Spouses" that the moms got to decide how the other family spent their 50k

I believe I read somewhere that Wife Swap also pays 50k, but the families get to spend their own money.

I would never do it, but I can't really think of any situation that I couldn't adapt to.

I can be comfortable with almost anyone and find things in common, our family goes from socialites to farmers and everything in between.

While I don't agree with how some people live if you look at it as a way of learning and teaching, then it wouldn't be so bad.

I might have done it in my younger years but I am too old now and have no kids at home.
I do enjoy the show because I like to see people change for the better and they usually do.

I would totally do it; however, I have no clue on what my anti-mom would be. I am so middle of the road-way boring to most.

I could be totally wrong, but given what you've said about having 4 sons and a large dog (or more?), I'm guessing that you have a pretty active, roll-with-the-punches household, linny. I'd bet one possible anti-mom for your family would be someone very regimental, emotionally distant, and no sense of humor. Maybe??

Well I might do it. The wife that got my home would consider it heaven. As I dont work and have a gorgeous home and the worlds best hubby. But I would be scared to be put in a trash filled filthy home.

I would soooo do it. I don't know how they would swap me out though. . .either some mom that has everything scheduled down to the minute or some super rich mom with a beautiful home that neglects her kids. Or maybe a farm wife that gets up at 4am to cook her hubby breakfast and dotes on him. . .that would be hard for me. But I think it's only 2 weeks, right? I could do anything for 2 weeks, and I think it would be a great experience. Remember the family they had one time that was all about doing everything medival? They home schooled their kids and they made shoes and ate only medieval type food. That would be weird! Or the wife that was a witch. . .that was weird too!

I didn't know they paid!

My dds have told me that we should do it. I told them no way - they get to stay home with their dad - I'd be the one who'd have to go live in someone elses house. Absolutely not. No way.

No, I wouldn't. It seems like they just have freaks on that show. Although I'd probably qualify, I wouldn't want to live in some other freaky house. And, I wouldn't want to inflict some freak on my family. They'd probably get a right-wing bible-thumper and I'd get a right-wing bible-thumping family that I'd have to teach evolution and what it really means to "love thy neighbor." LOL!

I would do it but hubby would not. If I signed us up he would go to a motel for privacy. And they wouldn't pick us we don't have any kids at home.

They would probably put me in a house where they eat junk food don't exercise, don't work and the house is a mess.

Not every mom wants to not work. I would hate staying at a house where I could not work. So not heaven for me. I have no hubbie(and do not want one!!), so could not go on. I would not anyway.

When I saw this post my first thought was NO WAY, but then my DH and my kids started annoying me, so why not. Let them drive someone else crazy for a few days. Since I hate to clean house, maybe I'll get swapped with someone who loves to clean then I can come home to a clean house. I would hate to be put in a family with a controlling husband, it would not end well.
