Free or Cheapo Scores of the Week

Here are mine:

Wednesday, I was at a garden center and found some healthy cactus "pieces" on the ground in the green house. They were the type that would root really easily, so I brought them up to the counter and gave them to the clerk. She said, "Take 'em - finders, keepers!" (I asked her if it applied to the orchid I "found" in a pot too, but she said no. )

Yesterday, a friend at work gave me her cat condo. My kitty thinks it's a Barbie Dream House just for her.

Then today, I went to a Freecycle "Arts and Crafts" swap and got a ton of stuff to feed my craft habit. I didn't know what to expect to find there, since I'd never been before. I wasn't going to take much because I didn't bring much, but the women there kept telling me to "fill my bag." So I did! I got:

- 2 sets of circular knitting needles
- 4 balls of chenille yarn
- A big spool thing of black yarn
- A big spool thing of a really pretty blue yarn
- Brand new cross-stitch fabric - 2 aida table runners, aida cloth, and some "ribbon" for cross stitching
- Cross stitch leaflets
- Buttons

And I'm probably forgetting something. As I was going through the stuff there, I kept remembering stuff I have in closets that I should have brought. Oh well, they have it every year. I'll bring it next year!

Now, I just have to wait until next month for the Big Plant sale in my area. All the different plant societies come and sell plants. A lot of them are only $1.00, so I can get a lot of unusual plants for $10.00 or less. Yay!

Besides house plants and crafts, I love books. I'll have to wait til September for the giant book sale my town's library holds every year.

Well, I got a package of $13.xx steaks for $2-they were SO good, and enough to feed my family plus leftovers. Also, I scored at the grocery store. They had cereal on sale for $2 each. There was a promo that if you bought 7 boxes, you get three coupons, each good for a gallon of milk. Also, there were really nice freebie water bottles for every two boxes of Frosted Flakes you bought. I had three coupons for $1 off 2 boxes of Kellogs. When I went to check out, we realized that I had the wrong size boxes. I had the 14oz. box, the ad called for the 11oz. box. The supervisor checked it out and realized that the store does not even carry the 11oz. box as in the ad. So, he gave me the larger boxes instead at the same price, and then gave me two for free since they "technically" rang up wrong. I ended up w/ 7 boxes of cereal and three nice water bottles for $7. In addition, I got a $5 off my next order catalina, and two coupons for free gallons of milk. I didn't get the third milk coupon since I was only charged for 5 boxes of cereal. I think I made $$ on that one! Also, we had triple coupons all last week at Harris Teeter, and I did really well there. Oh, and I forgot-last weekend I went to the mall w/ Kellyboysmom. I got a $60 sweater for $4.99, and a $40 coordinating blouse for $9.99. It was so cute, I couldn't pass it up! So, I guess I've done ok for the week.

My daughter and I did some clearance shoppijng last week. The first store we went in was K-Mart, their clearance racks were priced at $4.99. The shirt she picked out had an option of two different color, she decided on a color and I grabbed it and said "hold that thought". I took the shirt and scanned it and it was $2.99, she decided on both colors. I got several apx 10oz scented shower gels that we priced $2.20, but rang a $1.10. I have had that happen quite often out our local K-Mart, I never complain as if they had been posted at $2.99 they would have already been gone. One year I got some of the Barbie playsets, like a bedroom setup for $.50, even the cashier was shocked. My sister won''t even go in K-Mart cause it is a mess and dissorganized, but that doesn't bother me in the least with some of the bargains I have gotten.

I saved about $22.00 with coupons on groceries last week. It wasn't a double coupon store, so I thought that wasn't too bad. Our only double coupons store has much higher prices and sometimes, even with the double, you don't save that much. Other than that, I haven't found any great bargains. I can not wait for Yard Sales to start up in our area. The snow is finally almost all gone, so I am hoping we don't get any more snow. If we stay clear of snow, and it stops raining, then Yard Sales should be starting up again by the end of the month. I need clothing badly and since my wardrobe is mostly found at Yard Sales....I am excited to start again. Come on sunshine and warm weather...its been a very long winter up here in the North!

Thumbs up

I got some better than free mustard at ShopRite today

.75 French's coupon from last week doubled PLUS there was a $1 catalina on the spicy brown mustard - too bad I bought that one last since it was the least appealing of all the mustard variations

Oh and Colgate is still .99 so after doubling .50 coupons (from AllYou, peelies, mailings, previous papers, etc) I got a few more tubes free. I can't believe I ever paid for toothpaste *shakes head*

went to McDonald's today to score on the .49 cones. We ordered, we paid, and then we were told they were out of cones-would we like a sundae instead (same price!!). So. for $1.08 we had two caramel sundaes-they were so good!
