Booking flights/trips--need tips

When you book a trip (flight, hotel, car), what internet site do you use? How do you find the cheapest package? I usually check hotel ratings with tripadvisor; it hasn't steered me wrong yet. But, I wanted to see what you gals use. Maybe someone can point me in a different direction to help us save more money. Does anyone use hotwire? I know this would probably go in the travel section, but I'm seeking advice from the ladies that I consider to be "experts!" Thanks!
P.S. Just found out that my husband's oldest stepson (from a previous marriage) is getting married outside of Vegas. We are strapped for cash, but I know it would mean a lot to him (husband) for us to go.

Cheap Flights, Airline Tickets, Cheap Airfare & Discount Travel Deals - Kayak.com for comparison of flights
BookingBuddy - Super Cheap Flights - Compare Airline Ticket Prices for comparison of whatever

I just planned and booked a vacation to see my mom and dad--yay! I used both of the above sites, and hotwire.com was cheapest for airfare and rental car.

Be a bit open on dates and where you fly out of/fly in to and you can probably get a pretty good deal.

I have used Hotwire, but I have gotten some great deal using Priceline. You have to be brave, but if can pay off! I have booked four star hotels (Omni and also Westin) in Charlotte, NC for $60 a night. Just recently, I won a bid on a four star (Hyatt Regency) in Sarasota, FL for $72 a night. I also got a 3.5 star (Hilton Garden Inn), in Orlando, FL for $48 a night. I have also won bids on rental cars, which averaged about half of what I would have paid on Hotwire. There are message board that can help you determine what bids are winning for certain star hotels. You do have to do your homework, but it can save you big $!

I just used Hotwire to book two rooms for two nights each just outside of D. C. and got rooms at Aloft, a new Starwood Hotel, for $48.00/night. I was thrilled. Hotels.com has the same exact booking for $159.00/night.

You take a chance, but it was well worth it to me.

We've also had great luck with Priceline, but I haven't used them in a while.

I always use Kyak for comparing flights. It's a great sight and I like that it really does show all the possible options. Like it might be worth the extra $10 to you to fly at a better time, etc.

I have used Hotwire and Priceline for hotels before and have had good luck with both. If you are going to use them I would suggest going to BiddingForTravel.com - Message Board - Yuku first. It's a message board that can help you identify the hotels and gives you an idea what to bid, etc. HTH

Have used a bunch of them, but my fav was site59.com, it's now called lastminute.com.
Haven't used them since the name change, but I liked them better than all the other major travel sites I'd try over the years.
I've booked flight/car deals and flight/lodging deals with them, never was disappointed.

Be careful in the way that you book. Some of these sites will not let you change after you book them. We got a car rental that way and then wanted to make some changes and we could not do it.
