Atlanta Aquarium questions

We are planning a trip soon and would like to do the Zoo also but on a different day. Does anyone know if the combo tickets are for same day use only or can they be used on consecutive days? It is cheaper to buy the combo tickets of course but we don't want to be rushed to get through the Zoo and aquarium on the same day. Any experience with this ?

Of course, If anyone knows of any deals, I would appreciate it!

Also, what things are a "do not miss" in Atlanta ? We haven't been there unless you count layovers....lol

Thanks!

*We are only in town for a Friday/Saturday all day and maybe a bit of time on Thursday night...must get back on Sunday.

Go through the World of Coca-Cola. Lots of cool memorabilia and at the end you can drink at least 40 different flavors Coke makes. CNN does tours, if that's your thing. Underground Atlanta is pretty neat, shops, restaurants, built on the original streets of Atlanta.

As far as the ticket goes, this is on the Georgia Aquarium website:

See the Georgia Aquarium and Zoo Atlanta in an array of adventurous colors! With this ticket, you can stand face to face with the carnivorous red Piranha at the Aquarium then meet Mei Lan and friends for loads of fun at the Zoo. Tickets may be purchased online at georgiaaquarium.org or by calling the Aquarium Call Center at 404.581.4000. Ticket holders can visit either attraction first. Tickets are valid any day of the week. Offer ends December 31, 2009.

Also, look here to see if anything sounds like it might float your boat:

Depending on what other attractions you'd like to visit, try City Pass:
CityPass : Visit 6 Atlanta attractions for just $69, a $121.01 value!

I would not do the zoo and aquarium in one day. Are you looking at the pass that they sell at Costco? I think I just saw those the other day, but I do not know for sure. Look at this:
Visitor Info - Special Offers
You could catch a Braves game at Turner Field if you like baseball. Callaway Gardens is a fun trip. You can rent bikes, have a picnic, etc... Most people enjoy a day at Stone Mountain and of course if you like roller coasters, Six Flags is lots of fun!

Fernbank Museum is pretty fun, if you have kids they have a floor with hands on exhibits for them.

We've also visited the High Gallery. It was pretty interesting, when we went they had a display of self-taught artists that was "different". Some of the art was done in crayon on beer flats. Honest.

I would buy the city pass. I thought the Atlanta Aquarium was horrible. We went first thing in the morning and within an hour it was shoulder to shoulder and people were not polite to say the least. We loved the zoo, coca cola (my kid fav), fernbank was cool and there were several other museums that the pass was good for that we loved too. We used every ticket on our city pass and would do it again in a second!
