I remember some posts about people that have a wii. What exactly are Wii points? My DD got one for her B day and a Wii point card but not really sure what it is used for...

Be careful what you wish for.....

On the main screen for your wii there should be a wii shop channel (like the mii channel, news, etc). You use the points to buy games available direct for download from the wii shop channel. My husband loves wii points cards as gifts because a lot of the games are classics like Super Mario Brothers that he loves.

You have to have your Wii connected to the internet in order to see the wii shop channel. It took us about 6 months before we figured that out LOL Oh and the wii connects wirelessly (is that a word) if you have a router.

So to play the classic games like Mario Brothers (which my family would love!), do you have to have the older controllers?

You can play with the Wii remote held sideways or you can buy a "shell holder thing" that looks like the old school SNES remote and holds the Wii remote inside. I think the holder is about $10-$15
