My diet must be working...

I went to the doctor today and my blood pressure went down to 135/66 and I lost 7 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After a week!! I was just hoping for one pound! My 1500 calorie a day plan must be working. I know I will reach a plateau at some point but I'm thrilled!!!

Wow, are you exercising too? If so, what are you doing?

I was on a completely liquid diet once after getting hurt and even then I only lost 4lbs the first week. Of course I barely moved off the couch...lol

Anyway, good job! and good luck on the next 7.

Well since I don't really have to cook it's pretty easy to pick food. I have a tendancy for low blood sugar so I would rather eat tiniers meal/snacks throughout the day than the regular 3. So far today I have had 1/3 low fat cottage cheese, a regular Arbys roast beef and later on a Wendys smallest size Chili. So that's only been 525 calories so far. Later I think I will have a small orange, more cottage cheese (1/2 cup) and a Hershey bar for a treat. That will add 340 which only puts me up to 865. I'm a night owl so I will want to have calories to save for later. Not sure what I will eat after that. I've been studying the fast food menus for low cal options. Yesterday I had chili, a slice of Godfathers cheese pizza, a giant salad, 2 jello sugar free jellos, an orange, my Hershey bar and some other things. I'm even counting the calories when I chew gum! I have made this into a game and so far (only a week though) it's working. I also mall walked last week but I didn't do it today. We (me and my 18 yr old) had doctor appts, work, etc... today. Maybe I can get back to it tomorrow. To be in the range that is considered ok for my height I need to drop another 20 pounds, 30 ideally. My goal was 1 pound a week so I was happily surprised. I know I need to watch the salt in carryout though. I was just thinking this afternoon how hard it would be if I had a bigger family and had to cook regular meals. This way I can eat when I'm hungry and won't be tempted to finish kids plates! lol I did make a big list of foods I like that are healthy and low cal in case I start getting bored. Eating lighter has made me feel better.

Just curious why you want to keep fast food in your diet? You could have so many other great things to eat instead...

I was wondering this as well. Especially since you have problems with your blood pressure--fast food is usually loaded with sodium. I am also hypoglycemic and have to eat small meals every few hours. I love cottage cheese mixed with blueberry yogurt (it sounds weird but is very good!), a cut up apple dipped in laughing cow reduced fat swiss, apples dipped in peanut butter, a hard boiled egg, or string cheese for a mini meal. Be sure to drink a lot of water and your weight will drop even more and your body will feel much healthier!

Great Job I am so proud of you! Keep up the good work. When we get skinny we can dance naked together at the City Hall.

1. I HATE cooking!
2. Yes I'm watching the sodium although for me I think it's the weight more than the sodium affecting my blood pressure. I'll be keeping an eye on that so we'll see what happens.

Great job, Kathy! It feels great, huh? Maybe you can inspire me. I went from a size 20 to a 10, but after this winter I'm back to a 12/14. Ugh! I'm mad at myself! But on a good note. . .I'm not starting from a size 20 anymore! Maybe I can get to that elusive 8 this time.

Depending on your height maybe a 12/14 is ok for you hambirg. I have super wide hips so I'd have to weigh about 140 to fit in a 12 jean again. I'm not trying to get to that weight though. I'm 5'9" so 140 is pretty skinny for me. At 140 I still wore 13/14 jr jeans even though I looked smaller (which was good!). I'm just trying to lose this weight for my health though.

Congrats Kathy! Its great to see all the work paying off no?

I just stepped up my weight loss plan last week too.. I have been using the free version of fitday.com and I've already lost 4 pounds yey! Its a site where you can track your diet, mood, workouts, etc. I have found it super helpful because it does all the math for me
