Thanks for sharing this. I thoroughly enjoyed her and the judges reaction.

I had heard about this but had not gotten around to watching. Thanks for sharing-it was awesome! You could almost see the $$ signs flashing in Simon's eyes; someone's getting a record deal.

And doncha just love her attitude? Even though the judges and audience were snickering at her when she was talking she had this great look in her eyes that told me they had no idea what they were in for.

Just shows how shallow we all are......if you aren't young and attractive, you have no place in the public eye

I agree with suezz. I found it disappointing that the judges assumed her voice would be bad just because she isn't attractive. Another reason I never watch that show.

Saw it on GMA this morning. Another example of "don't judge a book by its cover" BTW I love the show. Many people may not have gotten the chance to be discovered if not for the show. We saw Terry Fator live last fall. We may never have had the chance to see him otherwise. I agree I don't like how they exploit people. It looked like the judges were ready to pounce but were blown away by her voice.

Saw that on the news last night. She's so good. I do think she needs a full-time beautician though.......LMBO.

I was reading online that Simon Cowell is already getting ready to offer a recording contract to Susan Boyle. She is also an odds favorite to win the British talent show that she was featured on. Those auditions were taped in January and February of this year. It's like American Idol. She will be on the live shows when Simon is done with Idol and goes back to England.

Personally, I find her charming. I could care less if she got a make over or not. She is who she is. I googled Elaine Paige, who she wants to be like. Elaine Paige is amazing.

Thanks for posting, fletchersmom! It was so amazing to watch her sing. And the reactions to her were so priceless. It's rare to see Simon look so moved...

It's amazing when you realize that there can be such talent found among the very least likely.

She was great. A few seasons ago, the show featured Paul Potts. I thought he was even more stunning.

What Susan Boyle did - you can't learn that. Its one of those God-given talents you either get or don't get. How wonderful to see such a vivid and powerful reminder that we shouldn't judge people at first glance, for we have no idea what gifts they have.

I've always thought God had a sense of humor, and for all we know he planned that decades ago just to see the look on Simon's face

I've seen Paul Potts, Andrew Johnston, and Connie.. but the thing about this woman is her attitude. I LOVE it! All those people were laughing at her, and she just stood up there and blew them all away. These are the kind of stories that I love, and I can't wait to see her progress in the competition.

I was worried that Simon would rip into her because of her appearance. Didn't he give someone on Idol grief because they were overweight?? Boy was I wrong.. I don't think that in all the years of Idol I've ever seen him look at any of them like he was looking at Susan. He even sighed at one point.. that was too funny.

Yeah, he definately had the "schoolboy in love" look on his face. He may be a snide and callous person most of the time, but he knows talent when he hears it.
