These people really must be stopped.

If I get one more call trying to sell me an extended warranty on my vehicle, so help me.....!

They now seem to have our cell numbers. I got seven calls on my Tracfone just yesterday, which is especially annoying since it's a pay-per-minute phone. I really did NOT want to spend $.70 to receive those calls! I tend to not answer if I don't recognize the number, but I'm on the board for an organization that just had a conference, and my cell number is on the contact list for the other board members (just so we could troubleshoot during the conference if need be)... and since I don't have all their numbers plugged into my phone, I never know if it's one of them trying to reach me about follow-up things, or if it's a telemarketer.

So... three times I answered unrecognized numbers and three times it was those stupid warranty-selling idiots.

Now I ignore the calls and google the numbers to see if they show up on a list of annoying call numbers. And yesterday from my cell alone, there were seven warranty calls. My husband's cell? Four. My home phone? Five.

And yes, I am on the Do Not Call Registry.

These people must be stopped.

We are getting tons of these too! We get them on our cells, and our brand new unlisted home phone number. My daugher gets them on her cell too! They always have different numbers come up on the caller ID screen too.

OH more than just them ! My bank called trying to get me to open a savings account because I have too much money (by what definition !?!?) in my checking account and it's safer than a checking account.

I told her I didn't appreciate the bank paying employees to look at my account just to see how much money I have. Gosh, she's not getting paid to do that, no commission, nothing, it's just a service to the account holder.

Ok, ummmm isn't that the bank's job to protect my money?
Ok, ummmm how about telling me it's an FDIC insured bank? Oh, then there wouldn't be a need for scare tactic call, now would there?

I suppose they "get" some people this way. It is both frustrating and yet amazing to hear the schtick they come up with to fool people.

I am also getting these calls.....
all of my friends and co-workers too.

It was on the news here in NYC that it is a big scam - they want you to call back the number and they charge you money

BEWARE!!!!!!!

I was getting several a day for awhile but they seem to have stopped. I also had charities calling me -- diabetes assoc., autism assoc., etc. They must all be on spring break or something because I haven't gotten one all week!

So can anybody STOP them? Is it illegal? Obviously since all of our phones are on the registry they shouldn't be calling us at all.

It just seems like the sheer VOLUME of these calls...well, they should be traceable and I would hope that they could be stopped so they would quit bothering the entire country several times a day!

I don't get the phone calls, I get them in the mail all the time. It says since we bought our used car 3 months ago we need it - guess what - I bought my used car 6 YEARS ago. Don't know where they're getting that info.

Have you been filing a complaint with the Do Not Call Registry? I do that every time I get any type of call like that.

How funny - I just got a call the other day to add a service program to my year-old $100 microwave...for just... hold on... $65 !

I think just sending in the card allows them to call for the extended warranty.

These crazy people!

It's the latest scam. They come in several times a week with a phone number and the word Florida on the caller ID. I hate it and I know they could stop it if they wanted to. What really gets me is that people are stupid enough to fall for it or they would not keep doing it.

**WARNING ** WARNING**
I'm not for sure if its the same company or not, but last week we went into our cell phone company to get a replacement battery for DH cell and I told the manager about the calls we also were receiving about this same thing. She said it's a scam and has already been reported. The people were even calling the *Model* cell phones on their wall !!!... I told her I knew for a fact our numbers had never been given out Via web or any other place. ( no one but medical, schools, mom and my oldest DD has the numbers ). She said our local DA was already looking into how they are getting all the cell numbers including the model phones they use at the store. My DH even received a text on his phone about this. ( We don't even have texting ) She said she would look into how that got thru as she showed on our accounts there's no texting or Internet service.. So be careful about this if you get their call or texting. Also report this to your cell company ...

I haven't actually talked to these people, but I've googled the phone number and know it is them calling. One of the people on one of pages I read after googling said she/he told them her/his car was 15 years old, and they never called again. I plan on telling them that myself if I ever answer the call. (In my case, I really wouldn't be lying MUCH ... it's 14 years old! Time for a new one!)

Maybe we should compare the phone numbers. I received two such calls today and when I called the number on the caller ID I heard a recording that said press 1 to be removed from the list. That indicates someone is paying for the line and if enough people complain to the phone company or our states' dept of justice should they not do something?

Here were mine from just today

UPHOLD
512-646-1430

Unknown Name
760-204-8459

4/16/09
FLORIDA
305-539-3779

3/25/09
FLORIDA
954-732-0447

The rest all say Unknown Name or Private Name or Unknown Number

I have an unlisted home number and that dang phone rings soooo much and NO ONE has the number. The retarded town I live in requires us to have a home phone/landline in order to have cable service.

So, to make it interesting, I like to kick it up a notch.

Trying to sell me the local paper? Awww bummer, we are moving in 2 weeks.

Siding? Shoot, live in an apartment but Ill ask the landlord.

Security System? No, thanks, I have 47 guns.

Magazine Subscriptions? I cant read. Its sad... I know

I have an answer for everything. I know, Its lying but here is my thinking. These people are just doing their job. A job I am sure they hate. At least I make their day more interesting.

And last but not least: Car Warranty : Gee, Ill have to pass since I set it on fire to get the insurance to pay for siding, the local paper, a new home security system and a few magazines.

Actually, a savings account is safer than a checking account especially if there's a debit card attached to the account.

I told her I didn't appreciate the bank paying employees to look at my account just to see how much money I have. Gosh, she's not getting paid to do that, no commission, nothing, it's just a service to the account holder.

I feel quite certain there was a computer generated report showing the account holders with more than X amount of dollars in their checking accounts. Employees most likely didn't sit there and look at each account to see what the balance was.

Ok, ummmm isn't that the bank's job to protect my money?

How are they "getting" to some people? A savings account is free.

I haven't been getting automobile warranty phone calls. I have been getting some mail, however, DH's truck did just go out of warranty and mine will around the first of the year.
Sounds like a pain. Sorry y'all are having so much trouble with these calls and on your cellphone to boot.

I've gotten four sales calls in the past week and I'm on the Do Not Call list too. This type of call had stopped completely after we first signed up but the telemarketers seem to be back in full force. DH got three calls on his cell phone so something must have changed to make all these people think it's OK to bother me.

I really hate that these self serving telemarketers have the nerve to term their impositions 'courtesy calls'. There's nothing courteous about bothering other people so that they can try to make themselves some money. It's actually the opposite of courtesy, it's rudeness.

cougar, that is EXACTLY what I told Discover Card when we got a courtesy call from them. I really went off on them and said, "Do you know what time it is in my time zone? DINNER TIME! Did your mother not teach you that it is NOT courteous to call during someone's meal????"

When we purchased our last car, the dealership had a large sign warning about this scam. I've never gotten the phone calls, but I have gotten things in the mail. They make it look like it comes right from the dealership! "Your warranty is about to expire" when that's not the case at all. And from the flyer at the dealership. . .you pay these people thinking you are getting some kind of warranty when you are getting zip! The problem is by the time you might actually use it, they are long gone, leaving you to the realization that you were scammed.

Is it me. . .or does it seem that the scam-o-meter is off the charts lately?! You should see the e-mails I've been getting. . .3-4 a day lately! "I saw your profile (uh. . .what profile?) and I think you are the most beautiful angel I have ever seen. I'm a widow, single Dad. . .I want too marry. I'm currently in Africa working in an orphanage and saving all the precious children who's parents have died from Aids. . .blah blah blah!!!!" OMG! Just how stupid would you have to be????

We've been getting the car warranty calls (all of ours were purchased used and have had at least 2 owners before us) - the number is bogus - and so's the company. We're getting the "please call us regarding your current credit card from our company" call - the one thats a scam where they never name the company and its NOT your credit card company. We're getting the usual FOP and other Charities - those I usually tell the truth - um, we just applied for and were accepted to receive medicaid and food stamps - exactly what money of mine would you like?

And of course we're getting the annual April calls from collection agencies for a friend of ours who lived with us for about 6 months, over 4 years ago. I tell them the truth too - she owes me money too, even if I knew where she was I'd get mine before I told you. She's been evicted from multiple places since she left my house, I've no idea where she is and I suspect her abusive boyfriend finally killed her - good luck. They just hope every year that she'll get her tax refund and magically decide to pay them (rolls eyes).

On the plus side the phone is registered in my cat's name, so if they call and ask for the cat or I just lie and tell them she's at a pta meeting or something and hang up.
