I was about 17 when Jeff disappeared (same age as his sister) and we never knew what happened to him. I think everyone assumed that he had run away. I'm back in contact with his sister via Facebook. At least this family knows what happened to him. I hope someday your family has the same closure.

Just an FYI about this program. Just read on the Sun-Sentinel that CBS has pulled this program without explanation. The network announcement says it will air at a later date. Tom Jicha's TV Plus | Sun-Sentinel Blogs: CBS pulls program on old Coral Springs murder |

| David Cusanelli also told police that he thinks he blocked the whole incident from his memory and that only recently did some details begin to materialize, according to the prosecution memo. "It's turned their worlds upside down. They are very upset," said Polay, the defense attorney. Aw Mitch, you say your clients are disturbed? I'm so sorry to hear that his whole thing is so difficult for the perpretrators. Why can't you manage any sympathy for the victim and his family? I guess they're not the ones paying your fee, huh? Mitch Polay is a perfect example of why so many people hate defense lawyers! |

| I don't know anything about this case, but aren't you jumping the gun? If Cusanelli hasn't been tried and found guilty, then he isn't necessarily the perpetrator.

| Whether Cusanelli is tried or not, he's still the the perpetrator. Did you read the articles? He's not being charged with first degree murder because it's impossible for the DA to prove premedition after more than thirty years. He skates on all the other charges simply because the statute of limitations have expired.

I set the DVR so I won't miss it. Sorry for your loss. Sounds like an interesting story. I too did not know there is a statute of limitations on any kind of killing.

Wow, watching this show was so surreal. Not only did I go to school with Laurie (the oldest sister),but Ginny (the girlfriend) and the youngest Cusanelli brother (Tom, not involved) were also in my graduating class. Back then Coral Springs was not that large a city. There was only one high school and everyone went there. Jeff was a year older than us, and he went to a diff high school close by, and had graduated by the time he had gone missing. I just hope the show gave the family some closure. I didn't realize that they can't even sue these dogs civilly, because the statute of limitations has run out on that as well. Well, I guess they will have to face their final judging at another time.

That must be the most awful feeling to live with. You're right, we can't even imagine, all I can think of is that on top of all of the horrible thoughts your family must continue having, it is as if someone took away your (and your mom's) right to true peace. Thinking of you.

I watched it last night. It was really interesting and sad. Had one of the brothers not gotten drunk and talked to the girl at the bar, probably it wouldn't be solved now. AND if the older brother hadn't started talking about his brother calling him and telling him he needed his help in hiding a van, authorities probably wouldn't know what they know now. There was really no evidence at all before the 'friend' said he couldn't remember if he threw a rock and he tripped on it or if he hit him with it. Then he said he remembered the big gash in his head, he thought he was dead. Gosh, he could have been just unconscious! The prosecutor said they had to go by Florida law from 1977. Back then the statute of limitations was three years. Had the brothers not talked at all and lawyered up before they were questioned, no one really would know anything at all even now. Except for finding the van with Jeff's body in it purely by accident. |

Laurel posted this note on Facebook. I don't think she would mind me posting it here for those of you that are interested. "I want to thank everyone for watching the show, and for your sweet, caring comments. This has been a difficult year for our family, finding out Dana's story, and then Jeff's van which held his bones. The 48 Hour Mystery crew that we worked with were so kind and compassionate in dealing with our family. They did a superb job at relaying the events of the details that we do have, and with portraying the story of my missing brother, Jeff. We are very pleased with the job that they did. Mostly, we are excited that people now know the truth of what happened to Jeff, even if we still don't have all the details. Truth is always good. God, in His wisdom, has provided a realm of peace that we can now exist in as we continue to live life side by side with this tragedy. I am thankful and grateful for His loving care. Please continue to tell others. There are many who knew Jeff, but may not have seen the show or even know what really happened. Please let them know that they can go out to CBS News - Breaking News Headlines: Business, Entertainment & World News and click on "48 Hours" to view it. It should remain out there for some time. There are many links, such as other videos from Coral Springs, as well as news articles. I thank you all for your prayers for our family. My prayers go out for all who are involved in this case. There is nothing we can do about the past. However, we can learn from it, and make decisions that will change our lives for the better. I choose to trust that God has a plan, a way that i may never be able to understand. Nevertheless, I choose to trust. To God be the Glory. Lovingly, Laurel Klee Steele"
