Has anything that someone said to you on here got you to take a look at yourself?

I've posted a few things in the past few months that I received some negative comments about. I didn't like it of course, but it got me thinking. Maybe these people see something that I don't? It really has made me take a good, long look at myself. Maybe I was being a busy body at times and even though I think I meant well, some things were totally none of my damn business. I've started to focus more on myself, my family, and my own life...and not so much on other people's. Their "issues" are theirs and I need to only concern myself with my own crap. I think that's why people focus on others sometimes...because they don't want to take a look at their own self. I haven't been spending as much time on here and it's been good. Anyway, I was just curious if anyone has tried to change their ways because of something that someone has posted to you on here. Thanks... ~Lisa

Yes, someone told me I had broccoli in my teeth. Just kidding.......hehhehehe. Feeling silly today, I guess.

There are many discussions on here that cause me to reflect on my opinions and maybe things that I have said or done, so, yes.

You'd have to be a complete narcissis (sp?) to never take something someone said on here to heart every once in a while. Either that or completely crazy (what's that old saying? Only the sane question their sanity...)
So, yes, as much as I would like for some things to not bother me they do on ocassion.

I know I'm an opinionated bitch--I admit that. I am brutally honest--that's my biggest strength, but yet my biggest flaw. I do find myself trying to tone my responses down (or not replying at all) because my bluntness can be offensive to some; even when it's not meant to be. And there really is no amount of "smileys" that can take the place of tone, inflection and body language.

Many times and in many ways some forgotten some remembered. Some rude, some diplomatic, some in public, some in private. Some from well meaning people and some from idiots.

LOL you get the picture!

LOL! I have said nearly the identical thing about myself! I once got a job because I said something to that effect. They appreciated my honestly.

In answer to the OP's question: yes, I have.

Wink

Caddylisa it is so funny that you decided to post this thread. I have often thought of it myself. With that being said I too have stayed away and decided not to post as much as I did. For some reasons plain and simple it was doing me no good. I know that we are all different and have all different views or thoughts on certain subjects, but for me personally I have decided to refrain from certain subjects I personally find too personal. My biggest flaw is that I take things serious and I am a sensitive person. But the bottom line is I know I am a good honest decent caring person. I have learned from this site as I always have there is good and bad in all of us one way or another and its not a bad thing, but the bottom line is none of us is perfect. So in a nutshell I have decided to speak my views when I feel I want too and let it go, because again I am the one who has to live with my personal views on a subject its my life and no one else's. I also decided just because I may not agree with a person here if something sad or horrible has happened to them I would still post something happy just because I feel its the right thing to do. I know I had the bad habit of when I get upset to type real fast and make some grammar mistakes, but again in the end to me personally grammar mistakes are so small in the scheme of the more important issues in life. I know I have made some really nice on line relationships here, some I did not and wish things were different. But I guess in the end we must sometimes decide to agree to disagree., With all being said as before I will still be around just not as much. ON a final note I wish all the ladies here the best of health and happiness and peace all around.. Nice post thanks... Peace. CAtherine

Its kind of funny that I was just thinking about this subject a few days ago. I have been lucky to get some wonderful feedback from this site. With that being said, I have also been slammed a few times. I guess the biggest lesson I have learned is to take it all with a grain of salt. There are people on this board that are here to share and grow, just as there are people who have nothing better to do with their time than to make someone feel like sh*t! For the most part, I think we all have learned to tell the difference.....

While I have also gotten a lot of great feedback from this site, once things get hot and heavy, I totally deliberate at what to post. I start to write a lot of posts, and then once I get my agression out, tend to delete.

Yes, absolutely. Even at my advanced age , I still learn and grow every day....and can learn from almost anyone anywhere - from a kindergartner on the playground to my boss' boss' boss.
