| How do you word...
Hi Everyone. I am having a graduation party for DH who is graduating with 2 Associate Degrees from comm. college...He will go on to get Bach. degree & probably Masters too... What do I write on the invitation to say we (he) don't want any money or gifts? I was thinking 'no gifts please'...but didn't want people to think we want money not gifts (?). I just had his 30th bday party this past Sat. His aunts & other family members gave him money. This grad party will be May 23rd. I don't want people to think they are getting robbed by us for having parties within wks of each other. So what is the proper way of stating...no money. no gifts??? Thanks! |

Not that you asked, but I probably would have combined the two parties..since you knew both were approaching and were close in dates.

Yes...I probably should have...But I didn't really think about it & went it something like this... We usually just go out to eat. He has 2 sisters, 1 brother & by the time we all get together there is 13 of us. Alright. So we were going to go eat as the same place as we did last year...They wouldn't take reservations on a Sat. night. Or anyplace that is really good that we wanted to go (kind of like a one of a kind place...not a chain)...So places that did take reservations, he didn't want to go to for his bday. You would have thought they would take res. for a large party like that...Tack on the gratuity. I'll tell you what...We picked up the tab for everyone last year (over $200 & we left like $75 tip). So anyway. We could have went on Thrus. But his dad works at night, other family members couldnt' go...So it turned into a picnic bbq at our house. He doesn't even want a grad party but I guess in a way it is for grad. & just a reason to get together, have fun & BBQ...Again it will only be around 20-25 people...>Same as birthday. That is why we don't want anyone to expect that he wants money. We just want to have fun & entertain! |
