Same reason I never take a sample at the food samples out in grocery stores (the ones that you help yourself to...not the ones manned by people serving). Who knows what hands grabbed there....eeewwwwww. It actually doesn't have anything to do with the flu or sickness for me...it's sheer EEEEEWWWWW factor.

What really gets me, and has for a long time, are healthcare "professionals" who know about putting gloves on , but don't know when to take them off. And we wonder why infection in hospitals is on the rise. I see them flipping their hair around, moving the trash can, charting, scratching, etc. They even come into the exam room with their gloves on, a huge no no......... dl |

Was shopping at Costco today (read: the land of many free samples ;-) and I merely *touched* the outside of a paper cup holding a sample of tortilla chips and salsa. I decided I didn't want it when I saw there was salsa in there (which I am loathe to eat). The demonstrator immediately threw it out. One of the DDs was with me and commented that she woulda eaten it. The demonstrator said that she couldn't have allowed it, it was against the rules. I asked if this was in response to worries about the current flu and she said it wasn't, it was just Costco policy, period. So Costco scores another point in my book. BTW - (I know it's totally OT, but...) a gal. of whole milk was $0.97 there today! |
