old books

My mother passed away last year and I have come across some old books she had. They are mostly 1800's - early 1900's. Just wondering if they are worth anything. They look nice and I don't want to just throw them away. I don't think they are first additions, but I haven't looked at all of them yet. Does any one know of a website that I can get the info I need to see just what I have.
Thanks

There definetly are people out there that collect antique books. I don't know who you could call. Let me think on that one.

Ebay alt ho its not a website to find the worth of an old book per sa, But you can get a general idea if the book has some kind of value. Other than that I'm not for sure. maybe call any book store thats private owned maybe they can help guide you in the right direction. good luck

I would google the title of the book and start doing research with the info you find. See what others are selling it for and/or getting for it.
Call some bookstores in your area and ask if they specialize in old books or if they know who does.
Call your local university and ask if they have anyone there who can help.

In the meantime I hope some of these sites will help.

Perhaps take them to an antique dealer to see what they say. You could also just enter the titles and year on google and see what comes up!!

Thanks everybody. These are some great ideas. I will try them. I actually thought of google myself but wanted to know if you knew of anything else. I know this is the place to get a variety of ideas.
