Convection Microwave Ovens?

Convection Microwave Ovens?

My microwave died. No love lost, I couldn't stand it and it lasted forever!
I'm looking at the convection microwave ovens. Does anyone have one? I would really like to also use this as a toaster oven to free up some countertop space.

Please share any opinions you may have - thanks much!

Chris

We have an Advantium. I like it a lot. I've never read the book, so I don't get the full benefit of it. I should actually do that. They demonstrated a lot of things with it that were awesome. However, we mainly use ours as a microwave and usually only use the oven part when the other oven is full.

I do love the speed bake option though. It combines the micro & convection ovens and cooks sweet & white potatoes perfectly much faster. I makes great garlic bread, too.

I say do it!

I had to replace my over the range microwave over a year ago and shopped and shopped for the perfect one. I decided for the convection/microwave unit and with ended up choosing the LG brand. I love everything about it EXCEPT the stainless look interior. My other one had the whitish plastic like interior and cleaned up fabulously. This one is horrible to clean and within the first week got splatter spots on it that won't come completely off.

As far as the convection portion of it.....I love it. How wonderful to just pop in a batch of brownies, or need to bake something small and not have to fire up the entire big regular oven.

When making the purchase, I shopped for the best price locally and this particular LG was approx $750 at several locations. This included tax. I shopped then online and found it delivered to my door for $520. What an incredible savings.

I figure it will have a life of about 12 years so I will just get used to the stainless interior.

I have the Advantium as well. Love it! It does pretty much everything. Speed cook is really nice to have. I cook tator tots in 6 mins and they come out nice and crispy. I grill steaks and chicken in it when the weather is bad. You can bake cookies and breads in it though I just usually throw them in the oven. The really nice thing is it doesn't heat up the house. I have the 240 over the range model but they also have a 120 model. Just be aware as far as Microwaves go this one is not cheap.

Thanks so much for your feedback! Because of the layout of my kitchen, I have to have a countertop oven. I'm considering one from Sears - The Kenmore Elite 1.5 cuft Convection Oven (link). But I can't find a single review on it!
