Has anyone used a Chiropractor?

Did you find it beneficial?

I am considering going to the chiro, but am not totally convinced it is really helpful. Seems anyone that has been in a car wreck, the chiro is "mandatory".

AIA,
I have a chiro that I use on ocassion.
It really depends on what you are going to get worked on whether chiro is helpful or appropriate.

It's my opinion that if you are not significantly improved by 3-4 adjustments then you probably need to consider going a more traditional route like orthopedic MD.No amount of chiro care will fix a herniated disc or "bulging" disc--and can make them worse.
Chiro cannot and does not cure illnesses/injuries, generally speaking. But the adjustments can make you feel better.

I agree with marilynk......I have gone off and on throughout the years, always with good results after 3-4 visits. Check with your insurance company, many of them cover a limited number of visits per month or per year. Avoid chiropractors that try to 'upsell' you on 'natural' vitamins, supplements, etc etc---waste of money imho, you can get the same stuff at a pharmacy for a lot less money.

I was always very skeptical of chiros. . .I had heard some pretty awful things. BUT I was having severe headaches after a fall down our stairs. My MD sent me to PT and it helped a little, but would always come back. Well, my uncle was visiting and adjusted my back. . .OMG! It helped so much. I started seeing a chiro on a regular basis for a few months and I was feeling great. Now I go only when I start getting the tight neck and the headaches. . .about once(sometimes it takes twice) every three months. I will say. . .find a good one! Ask around. Stay away from the ones that want to sell you stuff and claim they can cure your athletes' foot.

I've never been in a car wreck but I have used a chiro and it's been wonderful. I don't think I would function as well if I hadn't gone. You DO have to find a good one though. I have been to ones I don't like. I go about once a year now to "get back in line" and I feel a lot better when I do

I used to be VERY sceptical. I went one time for a "special", just to be checked out. After he was done with me I felt it was a total miracle that I could stand up and walk! I never went back there. Many years later I just didn't know what else to do with DD, who had head aches every day. Her ped finally said: Just take a pain pill every morning. Not acceptable!!! I took her to a chiropractor and after 2 adjustments her head aches were gone. I have had issues with my SI joint. That, too, was gone after getting adjusted a few times. Now I work as a LMT for that chiropractor, and get adjusted on a regular basis.

I have a chiropractor and I go once or twice a year.

I went a couple times a year when I was a kid because one of my legs was shorter than the other and that would make things get out of whack every once in a while. Plus, I rode/trained horses and showed a lot and a tumble from a horse can knock a lot of things out of place.

I usually pay the chiro a visit when I get a lingering pain in a leg/shoulder/whatever that doesn't respond to advil and heat/ice after a few days or if I take a really good tumble.

The chiro I go to now is the son of the chiro I went to as a kid. They never pressure anyone into more treatments, vitamins, etc. Very nice and I've never had to go to more than 2 visits to fix a problem.
