Old VHS Tapes...Question

I have so many VHS Tapes from when the kids were little . All the Disney special edition movies etc. I want ot put them away but need ideas how you store them. My kids are too old now for some of these. I think my attic gets too hot but not sure what to do with them or if they are worth even keeping

Can't really answer your question, but thought I'd pop in with a (related) one of my own. I have a dual VHS/DVD recorder. I've spent the past month or so making a back-up copy of my VHS tapes onto DVD (it is my understand that under the "fair use" doctrine, you are allowed to make ONE copy of anything you own). My problem is that some of the VHS movies will copy, but others will not. The ones that won't simply flashes up a message that says "this movie cannot be copied". Is there any way to tell which ones will copy and which ones won't? And how fair is it that I'm following the "rules" and I still can't make a backup copy of my VHS tape?

Sorry, I've been a little irritated about this lately.

I need to get all my videos of the kids when they were little transferred over to DVD. I was told that VHS tapes will eventually not work at all, they start to fade and most will not survive much beyond 25 years. I have noticed a few of my old Disney tapes are not working properly. I probably have over 100 VHS movies (mostly childrens). I sold some in my yard sale last year, but only was able to get about $1.00 a movie. No one wants VHS! I just have difficult time giving up all my old Disney VHS movies...

Ok, this is just too bizarre This morning in the shower, I was thinking about how I need to transfer all my VHS tapes onto DVD. I come here, and there's a thread about the very same thing. Freaky.

I guess it's a sign that I need to get it done,

I, too, have been replacing my VHS tapes with DVD/Blue Ray. I just pick up one every so often. Some I won't be replacing at all....the kids grew out of them, or we never cared for it to begin with.
