Anyone watch Glee?

Did anyone watch it last night? I LOVED it and can't wait for it to come back in the fall. One comment I heard about it described it as High School Musical meets Freaks and Geeks meets Twin Peaks. I knew I would like it when it was compared to two of my all time favorite TV shows (F&G and TP).

It is supposed to be set in my hometown, Lima OH. No real signs of Lima and I missed this part, but I guess they said "Go down to Akron". Ummm..NO! How hard would that be to check on a map? You can hardly be any place in OH (except Cleveland) and go down to Akron....it's pretty far north! It was interesting...I might watch again, but I thought I heard the next episode isn't until the fall. That's a long to remember the characters you were introduced to.

This is gonna be a guilty pleasure show. The girl that has the lead is a phenomenal singer. I googled Lea Michele and realized that she's been on Broadway for years. If you look her up you can hear more of her great voice.

Ooh, you're right. I missed that and I'm usually pretty quick to pick up on inconsistencies like that. That's one thing I like about The Office -- they take time to get the details correct for the most part when they talk about Scranton and Eastern PA. Even down to the names of the local stores.

Back to Glee -- I about peed my pants when the team went to watch the competition and the other team's song was Rehab by Amy Winehouse

Yep..they mentioned Pottery Barn and I would guess most people in this area haven't seen a PB, let alone shopped in one. The store the wife worked..."Sheets and Things" or whatever...that was funny, but WalMart would be more appropriate for the area. (It's not a very styling place!)

I use to work in Lima and I have to agree with you!

We loved the show, but we are also a show choir family and so we could relate to it! I wish it were going to be on sooner than next year. Show choir kids have more time to watch TV in the summer! Once the season starts, they are too busy to watch TV!

I just watched this show (DVR)and I loved it. Right away I googled it to see when it's on next, since it was such a nice pick me up kind of show. I can't wait until fall.

I watched it. I thought the episode was fairly okay for a pilot. It did a good job of introducing the characters and the environment in which they live. I did think that many of the characters, particularly the kids were very stereotyped. But, with a pilot with that many characters, there's that's not terribly surprising. There's only so much writers can do in about 45 minutes, especially when a good portion of that is taken up with song and dance numbers.

I'm not certain whether I will continue watching. I have some guesses about where the season will go - paternity issues and more with the love triangle between the glee club sponsor, career counselor and coach; conflicts between a big football game and something with the glee club; an episode dealing with coach's drug problem; various levels of competition (which, depending on when in the season they take place, will have to be handled extradonarily well in order for the audience not to know about the outcome...or to care about other things much more than the outcome.

I think the show has a lot of potential. Whether it lives up to that depends a lot on the writers and also on whether the networks sticks with it long enough to let the writers develop those story lines.
