opinion please

Try to figure the catholic church's stand on this one. Married in the church 9 days. Civil divorce, husband remarried for 30 years and exwife never dated. They are divorced over 40 years. What should the churches stand be on this? They are still married according to the catholic church.

I don't think you can just take a random example and expect a clear cut answer. There are so many variables to consider. Unless a marriage is annuled it is still considered valid. I don't know what happened in those 9 days and what the circumstances of the marriage were.

I guess I'm confused - do one of the two people who were married for 9 days 40+ years ago actually care where they stand with the Catholic church? If they did care/do care, why in the world haven't they had their nine day union annulled by now?

I'm sure one/both of them could still apply for an annulment - or were they just trying to outlast the need for one? ?

Is this an actual situation?

In the situation you describe, they are married in the eyes of the Church because an annulment has not been granted. If they care about Church status, they'll need to request that an annulment be granted. The Catholic Church can't very well go door to door and ask everyone if there's anything they can do for them. They'll have to go to them and ask.

It's my opinion that My Coupons needs a Religion - Political Board so that every thread at the Cafe isn't about religion or politics. Most (if not all!) of these threads have turned into a Catholic or Republican bash fest by the same handful of posters. If religion and politics are the new focus, the name of this board should be changed to the 'Cafe From Hell' because it's what it's become lately. Calling this place a 'Cafe' now is laughable; What kinds of slum cafes do the powers that be here frequent? LOL.

'The Cafe' is dead. Long live 'The Bash Board'.

I agree with cougarskies. I think we all know what everybodys view is that join in these threads.
I will read them but don't care to get into all that. I have lurked on this site for years before joining. I always enjoyed all the info I learned and advice I got from everybody but that is going away. I do think a board just for politics and religion is needed. I will still read them I just want to know what I am getting into. Thanks

Oh I don't know, it's the cafe where anything goes isn't it? No one has to open a thread or read any further than the first post if it's something you aren't interested in.
