High Gasoline Prices Again

Gasoline prices went up .25 in our area today. In driving a bus load of kids to a field trip, I was able to see it firsthand. The news recently reported that we wouldn't be seeing high prices like last summer and they would not be higher than $2.50 a gallon. It's already at $2.65 today. I really think some goughing is taking place and there's nothing we can do to change it. I've already reduced my extra trips, don't know what more I can do. I live 16 miles from town, so riding a bike and walking is not an option! What are you doing to save some money in that area?

Gas went up $.20 in a week's period of time, from the time I went on vacation until I returned home.

Frankly, I'm glad. People need to move to more fuel-efficient cars and alternative modes of transportation. It seems that unless there's an external force, like high gas prices to prod them, people keep driving around in their gas-guzzlers like they're going out of style. Oh, wait, they are going out of style -- just not quick enough!

I guess we should feel lucky -- it was more than $1.00 /gallon higher this time last year.

I agree with this. I feel like $2.50 or so is a "right" price for gasoline as it seems to be a point where people feel the pinch. I think we should feel the pinch so that we are ever mindful of conservation and minimizing waste.

I don't really have a problem with the price of gas. I'd rather pay $2.49 a gallon, which is what it is here right now, than the almost $4 a gallon I was paying last year. Yes, I get mad because I'm not sure there is any good reason for the price to be what it is other than increasing profits for oil companies but as long as it stays about where it is now I won't complain. Maybe it will help stimulate the economy, who knows?

My job has seasonal peaks and valleys and right now we're in a valley so I have fewer hours than normal. It's been a lot easier getting thru the valley this year with gas so much cheaper than last year.

Would I like to see gas stay at under $2 a gallon forever? Sure I would. Heck, I'd be in heaven if the price went back to under $1 a gallon like it was 10 years ago. But it ain't gonna happen so I just do what I can to conserve-drive the speed limit, combine trips when possible, etc.
