What's above your kitchen cabinets (besides dust)?

I'm trying to freshen up the appearance of my mom's condo so she can sell it. She has the kind of kitchen cabinets that have about 12 inches of space above them below the ceiling. She was using that for storage, and that looked cluttered so I took everything down. Now it looks bare. What do you have above yours? I need some decorative ideas. Pictures would be great!

I have a couple of baskets with silk plants in them, and a few antiques such as Swanky Swig glasses. I collect antique bowls too, so have a couple of there in different sizes. Keep it a light touch.

I once saw on a tv show, someone used vintage metal kids lunch boxes as decorations. I thought that was pretty original.

In our old house, I used to have decorative stuff, bottles, jars, fake ivy, baskets, but now I just have the above cabinet lighting. There is nothing decorative up there.

Nothing. In my last house we had some fake ivy and the stager the real estate agent brought in said get rid of it. When we bought our new house, I didn't put anything up top. I have to agree it looks so much nicer. I have seen pictures that look nice but my walls don't lend themselves well to that. I would say nothing is better than putting stuff there for the sake of doing it.

I have my collection of funky glasses I pick up at thrift stores.

My favorite is a set of 6 that have CB sayings on them such as "10-4 Good Buddy" on them

We have white christmas lights on top so that when they're turned on they give a nice glow above the cabinets ... you can't see them of course and it was cheaper than installing lights up there.

Nothing. Our cabinets go to the ceiling. I'm glad too. I hate to dust.

We don't have anything above ours and I like it like that...the lights sound nice though, I might try that one day! When we saw the house before we moved in the prior owners had hung copper colored molds, one above each cabinet. Those looked nice but I don't really have any stuff like that, nor do I want any knick knacks so I like it plain.

I collect teapots, antique glass goblets, and antique books. A lot of them are lined up on the top of my kitchen cabinets.. and the rest are in the glass front cabinets in my kitchen.
