| OneNewsNow.com - Latest Blogs Couple: County Trying To Stop Home Bible Studies - San Diego News Story - KGTV San Diego "SAN DIEGO -- A local pastor and his wife claim they were interrogated by a San Diego County official, who then threatened them with escalating fines if they continued to hold bible studies in their home, 10News reported........ The county employee notified the couple that the small bible study, with an average of 15 people attending, was in violation of county regulations, according to Broyles." Rather outrageous isn't it? I attend several home meetings, prayer meetings, bible studies, many other religious groups I belong to have home informational meetings, even tupperware and superbowl parties. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Consider the source, WND. it's pretty sensationalistic. They have never been too concerned about accuracy. |

I still stand by that there may be more to the story than has been told thus far. I wonder if the Pastor involved is claiming a tax exempt status because he holds church meetings/Bible Study in his homes? Does he have a regular church building? What's the name of his church? If it truly is as portrayed in the article, I think the county may be stretching to enforce whatever code it is trying to enforce. If however, there is more to the story, then Pastor Joe may be in the wrong.

From the comment section, there may be something of a nuisance factor. In other words, there may be too many cars parked on the street. I sincerely doubt that this has anything to do with them being a group of Christians. Like I said, WND is one of the most factually challenged sites out there. |

If you watch the newscast it looks like it started with a parking issue. It doesn't seem like a neighbor complained but someone visiting a neighbor. I don't think they were out to get them because of a bible study. I live in San Diego and had not seen this on the news before today.
