This is in all our papers today and its also on the computer. What is the world coming too honestly. I am sick how in the world could a teacher ever ever think it was okay to have sex right in the classroom with a minor. Also it has been reported that there were hundreds of texting messages and cell phone calls between the two. The last I heard she will receive up to 7 years in prison. So here is my question alot of people are saying it was totally both parties concerned are to blame and I even read that someone wrote on the comments of the story that most 14 year old boys look like they are 25... They are saying he will just receive a slap on the wrist. So what is everyones thoughts while we know this has occured many times and will continue to happen. I still cannot even think what would make a 27 year adult teacher want to have sex with a minor. Plain sick and disgusting... Catherine

I don't understand at all. I have no idea what appeal a middle school aged child has to an adult in their right mind! I taught middle school and I was close to my students,but more along the lines of a second mom to many of the kids. There is really no excuse for it. It is abuse plain and simple and I think the sentence should be much worse than 7 years!!!

How on earth could a 27 year old woman find a 14 year old boy attractive?

I'm no teacher or even a parent, but to me 14 year old kids look like kids.

NOT that it makes it right or anything but it's not like the kid was a senior and just about to turn 18. That would still be wrong on many levels but at least it's closer to being understandable.

That teacher has more issues than National Geographic.

I'm not sure jail will cure much if anything unless there is counseling as well. Without help, she will serve her time and then be free to go out and do it again. Does anyone know of any studies that have been done on female sexual predators? I have read that males are often incurable, but what about the females?

I think we should revamp Alcatraz and use it for a permanent home for the worst male offenders. Let them diddle each other. And I'm not talking about the 18 year old who has sex with his 16 year old girlfriend. We really really need to review our sexual predator laws and change the guidelines to give us more effective ways of dealing with this class of criminal.

It is sick! I also found out that there are many more convicted female teachers who have done the same thing. I was shocked at how many there were. I'm always concerned about male teachers doing something but now female ones?? I really have to wonder what in the world is going on???

I agree about Alcatraz! I have said the same thing. Send all sex offenders there! Too many of them walking the streets..ugh

Anyone ever gone to the website where you enter your address and it shows you all the "listed registered" sex offenders in your neighborhood. It gave me the willlies when I realized how many lived in my area, course that is only the ones that have been caught and are registered.

Works for me! You are right, the guidelines need changed. There's a huge difference between the 18yr old and the child predator. That's like comparing a stubbed toe to a leg amputation!

Yep and found one living NEXT DOOR. He had a charge in Illinois when he was 18 or 19 with a young boy. YUCK! But it's off his record now so I don't know what that means. He bought the house next door, about a month after I got mine, with his girlfriend and they still live there. I'ts been 7 years. I found out about 4 years ago. I hate to say it but he seems like a nice person. I know, so did Ted Bundy. He and his girlfriend keep to themselves but I had many conversations out in the yard with him before I found out. I actually went over and told him that the whole neighborhood knows when we found out. It went around the neighborhood like wildfire. I just felt comfortable telling him and he said he thought it had been removed by now. Not sure why. I kind of wanted him to know that we all know just in case he still had any thoughts.....We still wave and say hi, etc... Creepy though.
