CJ, My girls love leggings, and I actually bought them today! JC Penney is currently carrying only the capris length, as you noted. I suggest you stop at a consignment/resale or Salvation Army store to find the lengths of a few years gone by. What an awesome undertaking! See? You're a good egg, afterall!

Cj they sell these at my target store here, also as marilynk pointed out just about any place that sells Danskin ( thats what target sells ) will carry the ankle length leggins.... What a wonder undertaking you are doing. I'm sure the little girls are thrilled to receive their packages. P.s if you still can't find them contact a local dance studio for girls, they either sell them off the wall rack or can perhaps order them for you. |

Thanks for the various pointers! What an idiot I am to never have googled it...when I constantly google everything else. I will add another twist and say that I try to do this on the very cheap. And as all good MCers, I'm not only look for cheap but look for quality cheaply. Icansavedaily, do you have any experience with the quality of items from the penguinkidswear place? One of the problems that I'm having is that the description often doesn't say capri length, even though they are. I thought I found them at kohls.com and ordered a bunch of pairs, they arrived yesterday - all capri length! ![]() Does anyone have any other suggestions for girls items that might be culturally appropriate (and inexpensive)? cj/

I was wondering about little craft items - like those teeny little packages of sequins you get at A.C. Moore ... all girls that I know at all ages love sequins! If you threw in some school glue, they could decorate some of their belongings. My girls glue sequins on EVERYTHING...little boxes for jewelry, little cards they make for each other, their dolls' clothes... I also think the old polly pocket toys are so good - you can buy a 4 inch polly pocket "house" that opens up to a teeny travel-sized doll house with little people to play. My kids love these on trips, because they're so small and discrete, too. I've bought them in lots on eBay, and usually only spend a few dollars per little box. (ETA - I just did an ebay search - you have to write "vintage polly pockets" and they are going for slightly more than I paid 2 years ago...) All sorts of hair ties, ribbons, beads...

Sorry I have never dealt with that company beforejust found it in a search. I initially found it under wholesale clothing. I would assume that you can check on it thru the BBB online. (better business bureau). But with my luck the assume part would bite me in the patoot.

From what a friend of mine was in that area(he was in Iraq, close to the border), these children are incredibly appreciative of anything they get. I sent him stuff that he could carry in his pockets to give out (he was near a school that they visited often)--Blow pops, Tootsi pops, Twizzlers, the mini MM tubes (although he later said that he kept those for himself! ). Small stuffed animals (an excess of teenie beanies from McDonalds), word search or puzzle books, coloring books, stickers; all went over well.
