Walmart-Cash Back & Cheapest Item

Hi. Was wondering if anyone knows

1)How much cash back can you get per transaction?

2)What is the CHEAPEST thing at Walmart?

*Cheaper than Candy bars!

I'm in another state selling on Ebay for my aunt & would like to give her her money as I get it...So I figured run to Walmart do cash back...But is there anything I can get for like $.25...i know supercheap...but i'm only trying to get cash back...
TIA

Kool aid at Wal-Mart is 5/$1.00 or maybe 6/$1.00...
and I think the limit on cash back is $100.00 per transaction

Someone please correct if I am wrong on the cash back

I wasn't sure if it was $100 or more? Thanks for the Kool Aid idea. Didn't think of that! din't want to walk around forever trying to come up with something! Thanks.

*Reason why-ATM will charge me $$ & Paypal charges $1 when you use an ATM, I NEVER do cash back on bank card or Paypal card...

Im in Wis. (from PA)...Not like I transfer to bank acct. & go get it...you know...

Thanks again!

How are you getting cash back by buying the cheapest item at Walmart? Walmart charges no fees and just gives cash back from debit cards if you buy something? Where is the money coming from to start with?

Why not add her bank account to your Paypal account and do the transfers as you need to. It doesn't cost anything.

Admittedly, I am lost on this one. I would not put myself through navigating the parking lot and aisles at Walmart to get money, I'd use the drive through at a bank........

Maybe it's too early in the AM. Maybe I need more coffee. I am scratching my head here. I don't get it.

I'm confused about the whole cash-back process too.

I'd take Toonces' idea and run with it - Add her bank acct # to your PP account, costs nothing to have the $$ transferred to bank...plus when you set up the acct, PP adds a few cents to the bank acct to verify all is right.

I think I get it now - you want to buy a small item and then press cash back at the checkout and get cash out of your PP debit account?

I can explain.

When you sell things on eBay and they pay by Paypal, the money obviously goes into your Paypal account.

You can get a Paypal debit card and use it to spend the money straight out of your Paypal account. That costs nothing.

When using your debit card, if you run it through and designate it as a *credit* card, you get a 1.5% instant rebate into your Paypal account.

You can also use it to get money out of your Paypal account at an ATM. There is a fee for doing that - $2 or $3, I think.

Or, you can have Paypal transfer your money to your bank account. That costs nothing and takes several days.

Or, of course, you can spend it online at places that take Paypal.

When you are at places like WalMart that let you use a debit card at the check-out, they will also let you opt to get some cash right there at the checkout lane... almost as though you were writing a check for cash. It's like their check-out lane is also working as an ATM for you, but you don't have to pay an ATM fee.

So... you can buy something cheap - say... a package of gum for $.69... and pay for it with your Paypal debit card. The cashier will ask you if you would like to also have some cash. Say you tell her, "Yes, $20, please," she will then have you input your PIN, and debit your account for the price of the gum plus $20, and give you a $20 bill. Easy peasy.

And you don't incur a fee like you would at an ATM.

It's cheaper to do that and buy a $.69 pack of gum than to pay the foreign ATM fee you would have to pay.

It's not laundering at all - it's just another way to withdraw your Paypal money.

I get all that. I have a Paypal debit card to go along with my acct too. Back in the day before Click & Ship I used to schlep my packages to the PO and pay the postage with my Paypal card and the cost came out of the Paypal acct (plus you get the 1.5% bonus) which means no money out of my pocket, because it came out of my "ebay money".

I don't understand why the transfer to a bank acct won't work for you. It's free and the best part is that you don't have to deal with Wal-Fart. Sure it takes a couple days, but you said your Aunt is in another state......soooooo?

I am guessing it's a speed thing. She'd probably rather have the cash today. I've had it take as long as a week for money to transfer into my bank account. If you can spend $.10 on something at WalMart and have the money immediately, and then just take the cash to the bank (if you so choose).... it might be worth the dime if you needed the cash sooner rather than later. If the aunt needs the money *now*, this lets the OP have the money in her bank account as soon as she can get there to deposit the cash, and she can then immediately send the aunt a check that she is free to cash.... whereas with a bank transfer in from Paypal, the aunt might have to wait a week to cash it.

I get it, I do the same thing when I travel back east...if I want cash I just stop at a store, buy something small and use the cashback feature on a debit card. I don't normally visit WM but every grocery store and drugstore I know of offers cashback & so does Target, Kmart, etc.. Maybe WM is just convenient or nearby, to the OP.

There are other options such as bank transfers but the method mentioned by the OP is the fastest way to get cash out of your own account without paying any fees at either end.

From my Paypal card...I have a Paypal acct with a Debit Master Card. Just like my bank card...If I use it at an ATM I will get charged fees by bank & ebay. If i buy something at Walmart & do cash back...I don't get charged at all...

Excellent Explaination! I was thinking how I was going to write it out so everyone would understand.

I"M in Wisconsin selling for my aunt (who does not have Paypal nor wants Paypal with her bank acct...

If I transfer to my bank acct (which is in Pa) does not help us.

If I use at ATM, I have to pay ATM & a Paypal fee (PP$1)...

I have a Business Debit Master Card for Paypal (*I use it to buy stuff to sell on ebay...like recycling the money with out using m y personal bank acct)..

So, if I go to Walmart & buy something supercheap because I only want $$$ anyway, i will be able to select cash back & get the cash to pay her for her items.

Now to not add to the confusion-I think Paypal has limits...I will have to check. Like if I can only get $100 $200 or $300 a day...

Easy way to get her her money.

Yeah~Walmart is convenient...not because I liek the place! I'm in RURAL Wisconsin...Target is like 40minutes (Sigh)...Barely any thrift stores to buy more ebay items...Wally World is about my only choice...I don't know of any CVS, Walgreens, or Rite Aid around here either...Wally is about it.

I'll survive...Too busy listing her stuff to do anything else! I take DD out every other day to do something exciting.

I'm thinking you can buy anything, get your $$, and then go return the item you bought so you wouldn't be out any money at all. (unless you could really use the item that you bought)

Prices vary at different Wal-Marts so I can't say what would be cheapest in your area. You can get up to $100 back on a debit card transaction and $20 back on a check transaction.

I just don't understand this in this day and age. But, to each his/her own.

There is a much lower risk of transacting business like this online than in person. According to my bank, 90% of the identity theft that occurs happens in person. Meaning, someone swipes the card into a reader or copies down the numbers in the back when they pick up your check in a restaurant and they sell the numbers.

Great Value "kool-aid" is even cheaper. Only 10 cents.

There used to be little packs of gum that were a quarter. They were in plastic displayers at the registers-Big Red, Juicy Fruit, etc. Haven't been to Wally in a while, don't know if they're still there.

Here's a suggestion for the future: Get an account that is strictly for paypal. I use a credit union for my banking but I had an account at a bank just for my paypal. That particular bank was running a promotion where if you opened a new checking account(it had no fees!) and put $50 in it, they would give you $50 after so many days, it was aimed at students but available to any new customer. I opened the account and after the $50 was given to me I took my original $50 out and just used the $50 as ebay money(I just buy, not sell). I kept the balance on that account very low just in case I got hacked, so I wouldn't be out very much.

I kept that account for several years until the bank changed policies and the once free account started to charge fees. Then I opened a second checking account at the credit union to use for paypal-no fees on it and no fear of someone draining my main bank account if by some chance I do get hacked.
