Anyone else allergic to bug bites??

It never fails everytime I get bit, it swells bad and itches like crazy. I just made a mistake and took the garbage out wearing flip flops and got bit on my heel. Right now its swollen and looks like i have one of those giant gumballs comming out of it So far to try and control the itching I have taken Benedryl and put alcohol on it and that Johnson's gel spray for itch relief.. however its not helping Does anyone else suffer from allergic reactions to bug bites and if so, what do you do to get the itching to stop TIA

Some bugs do that to me. Scratch and you make them worse. I use aloe with lidocaine to numb the itch and, put ice on the bite.

I am a bug magnet, not sure why! If 17 people are sitting in a circle, all the skeeters and wasps are on me. I also react to the bites much like you. I wonder if it's because I've been bitten so many times? I've already done 3 weeks of antibiotics for tick bites this season. Bleah.
I do the same things you're doing--ice, Benadryl, lidocaine or neosporin, sometimes Aveeno. I have also bought these Bug Bite sticks, which can help, though not usually quite enough. They sell them at CVS, or other drugstores, and they are good to keep in the car.
Hope you feel better!

If there is anything in the state it will hunt me down and bite me. I buy "AfterBite", I will put it on like 3 times withing the first five minutes. one times just won't do it for me, but I just keep putting it on till it stops itching, burning, what ever the bite stirs up. "After bite" is good, but one dab just isn't enough for me, but then I am a wusss when it comes to bites and stings. But then I had a Brown Recluse bite on my stomach and only had to go to the DR once. oddly as bad as those can get, that is the one bite that a home remedy actually worked better than a DR.

Adolph's 9or any generic msg) is great for bug bites - make a paste with a bit of water and cover the bite. Sounds weird, works great.

I have the same problem. I read, not to long ago, that they think that the reason that some people are so much more attractive to bugs is that they lay cholesterol down closer to the skin surface. It's just the way you're made.

My oldest DD is like this, last week she had 3 mosquito bites on her legs, and her whole legs looked like two big welts they swelled so bad. Seems like no matter how much bug repellant she uses, they still bite her.

I get huge welts from the Tiger mosquitos. I never got mosquito bites when we lived up north but, from some reason, these tiger mosqitos think I am a fully prepared meal. I get huge welts that itch like mad and then, after they have gone away, I am left with dark spots where the bite was. A few weeks ago my legs looked like I spent an entire season on Survivor.

When I was a kid, I used to always manage to get bitten in the eye area and my eye would swell up like I had been in a fight! Now, one of my kids gets the same reaction. It really looks terrible.

I'm allergic to both mosquito bites and spider bites. Mosquito bites will swell up to 2 inch welts and spider bites are twice the size of that! And they all loooooove me! Must be the sweet blood or something! LOL~

This works on scorpian stings also. It's something about an enzyme in meat tenderizer/MSG that draws out poison.

cashchik - I think it's some enzyme that comes from papaya - it acts on a bug bite the same way it acts to tenderize meat
