| Hypothyrodism?
Just found out last week that my thyroid is out of wack. I have had a problem with anemia for years and got sick of my doctor not trying to figure out why, so I changed doctors. She sent me for a bunch of tests. Too add to my anemia, she found that I have hypothyroidism and I also have acid reflux, am vitamin B and C deficient and have a peptic ulcer. I wish I had decided to switch doctors years ago. Anyone else have thryroid problems?

I am also taking Synthroid. I just started it, so I haven't noticed that its helped yet. I am just happy that, finally.....I know what has been wrong with me. I was very tired, cold, my muscles and joints ached all the time, and I was depressed and no matter what I did...couldn't seem to lose that last five pounds. I thought maybe it was from my anemia, and never suspected my thyroid. I encourage anyone who does not feel like they are getting results from their current doctor, look for a new one!

| I am curious as to why you couldn't take Synthroid? What do you do as far as diet? I try to eat low-fat, healthy foods (although I do occasionally eat chips, salsa, etc). I think I have the exercise part covered. I do 3.5 miles on the treadmill three or four days a week, and lift weights/pilates at least two days a week, and my family tries to walk a local trail several nights a week. I think my doctor is doing the medicine approach because of some of the other issues I have. It has been obvious that my anemia hasn't improved, even with a good diet, and taking iron supplements, and she was concerened about getting me on meds for the hypo as soon as possible. I do have to admit that it is really strange for me to be taking daily medication, I have never had to take prescription meds other than for my occasional migraines. Now, I am taking them for my anemia, hypo and ulcer.
