I just saw the obit. I really liked him until I found out how he handled his legal problems - legal problems caused solely by the extravagances of him and his wife. How can you respect anybody that has the nerve to call on 'loyal' fans to bail himself out of a bind that HE caused and ignored until he was forced to adress it? It'll be interesting to see if the wife uses any of her insurance money to repay the staggering debts she racked up. Somehow, I doubt she'll pay her bills voluntarily. I bet the lawyers for the parties they owe millions to are filing motions right now!

Unhappy

Well honestly before he got into so many financial problems, I did honestly love him and the late Johnny Carson, they brought many tears of laughter to my eyes and for those reasons alone they were a great team and I will miss them both.. Peace. Catherine

You know, I feel exactly the same. I lost all respect for him when his house went into foreclosure. And, then to call on the average guy to bail him out. Please.

His death does make me sad, though.

I lost respect for him when he started endorsing Premiere Bathtubs. In my opinion, it's a scam.

I was sad to hear he'd passed away too. My mom and I always used to joke every time someone knocked on the door that we hoped it was Ed MaMahon. Now he'll never come see me

I don't remember hearing about his legal/financial problems.

I was at my sister's house when the sales rep came, so I heard the whole scpeal (sound it out, I can't spell). The tub costs in the neighborhood of $16,000 if you pay for it outright. That, of course, includes installation. If you opt for the payment plan, you pay 240 payments (20 years). I can't remember the exact details, but it came out to something like $120,000 by the time it was paid off. He made it sound like they were doing you a huge favor by keeping you safe. He compared the payment plan to an insurance policy "you just get used to paying it". My sister actually applied for the payment plan, but didn't qualify.
