Cool Spinoff: The Imperfect Mother Club

OK - fess up! What have you done this week to win you a spot in the Imperfect Mother Club? Just this week, because we don't want anyone going for the Lifetime Achievement Award?

But seriously....we are all imperfect (as Toonces said!) and it might be fun to look at the lighter side of parenting.

Today, my 14YO DS is home alone for the entire day while DH, DS1, and I all are at work.

Wow...I have so many to choose from......

My oldest (9 yo) had a fit this morning because I wouldn't give her spending money this morning for when she goes to my moms house. Well, geesh, she isn't going until tonight AFTER I get home from work AND I AM the one taking her!

My youngest (7 yo) is mad at me because I said I was going to trade one kid for a gazebo with hot tub (saw an ad in the Penny Saver). Never said it was HER I was going to trade...LOL

My dd said she hurt her toe. Looked fine. Three days later at her check up she shows it to me again, and an area the size of a playing card is all irritated (not red or infected). I was embarrassed that I didn't know it was worse, and I used to work with dd's dr too. Thankfully after one application of solarcaine with aloe she is cured.

Can I join as a stepmom? Let's see I wouldn't let him (14 year old) take OUR cell phone into his room last night. Oh and I won't let him keep it in there overnight.
I won't let him visit Facebook - it was throwing up some wierd pop up on my laptop.
I don't cook breakfast nor will I cook lunch - your 14 find your own food.
And that was just the past 24 hours!!!

I threw 2 kids out of our community pool that my kids were playing with because not only were they alone (and under 12), they do not live in our community! My kids were irked

I won the kids at a game of Canasta. I used to "play easy" until they learned how to play and now I figure they know enough so I play like I should. They are not pleased

that was just today. I don't want to dwell on the imperfect past

I made DS ride his bike over to his buddy's house today ~ a whopping 5 streets over. Oh, and I refused to give DD money to go to the movies. She just graduated from high school and received more money than DH and I have in our bank account!

Hehehehe ~ gee that felt good!

WOW!!

I don't have kids, but I think I better step in here and start calling CPS on some of you. For shame, making 14 year olds fix their own breakfast, making kids ride their bikes to a friends house, etc.

What next? Is someone out there going to make a kid eat vegetables or not talk back???

I forgot to make lunch. We were up late last night, and up super late this morning. We had breakfast, then around 4 my kiddos (3 & 4) were asking for a snack. I looked at the clock and couldn't believe how late it was! We had a snack and then we had dinner at 630.

I wasn't too bad today. I took my 12 year old dd to the zoo and let my 13 yr old stay home and play xbox360 all day. He also had to fix his own lunch. I have not yelled at anyone today but its not bedtime yet. lol

My 10yr old DD was helping her Grandparents today with odd jobs around their house and they gave her money for it. So I told her well, since she is making money I should charge her $2 a month for rent. She was NOT amused..lol!

I am working this summer for the first time, in like---forever.....My kids are pretty much watching themselves. I either work 8-3 or 3-10, fortunately only 3-4 days a week, some of the days falling on the weekends when DH is home w/ them. But I feel like a heel-on my 8-3 days, all I want to do is veg after work, and on my 3-10 shift, the a.m. is when I do my basic housekeeping-sometimes followed by a power nap. I want my kids to have a great summer. We will try to find a way to balance it all out....

My 2 ds had friends spend the night Tuesday. They are 14 - 17 yrs old. I was trying to watch a movie & warned them to be quiet so I wouldn't have to turn up the tv (hubby was sleeping, he had 2 get up at 3am). None of them listened so they all got squirted with the bottle I keep for my cats. lol
Judy
p.s. they also had to make their own breakfast & lunch

I'm mean today because I told dd she can't play outside in the 94 degree heat. Then I even told her if she yells at her little brother again she's going into her room.

Are congratulations in order?? I don't remember you mentioning your new little one. CONGRATULATIONS!!! and, welcome to the club (of Imperfect Mommies)

Woops, forgot to add my bad mommy move of the day: yelled at DS (that's right YELLED at him) for leaving meat on top of the freezer. He took it out to get to the corndogs under it, and left the meat there for about an hour before I discovered it. I was NOT happy.

oh, I guess serving corn dogs isn't too good, either, huh???

I work for CPS and we actually have had kids call the hotline and ask if stuff like making their own breakfast, or cleaning their room was grounds for us to come and take them Boy were they shocked when they were informed that it is normal for parents to ask the kids to help out
