Mitt Romney to suspend campaign

GOP sources: Romney to suspend campaign - CNN.com

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will suspend his bid for the Republican presidential nomination, GOP sources tell CNN.

A candidate may "suspend" his or her campaign rather than dropping out, and technically remain a candidate. In this case, he or she is entitled to keep any statewide pledged delegates as well as their district-level delegates.

Candidates who officially drop out must forfeit statewide delegates.

I'm not surprised to hear this. McCain really has picked up a lot of support. I have been trying to follow the debates and such, and honestly have seen Romney hung by his own words.

I'm surprised. Should be interesting to see the interaction between Messrs McCain and Huckabee now -- bet they're no longer bff.

Does anyone know if another debate is scheduled?

I don't know - Wednesday morning I saw Huckabee on the news and he was definitely vying for the VP spot on McCain's ticket. He may decide to keep going for that since he's only picked up delegates in some of the southern states. So much depends on how much $ Huckabee has/wants to pour into a campaign that is almost certainly not going to yield a nomination.
