"Sen. Joe Lieberman, the self-described "Independent Democrat" who caucuses with the Democratic party in the Senate even though he has endorsed Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz, got some tough talk from Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, yesterday about his advocacy for the presumptive Republican presidential candidate and the general tone of the campaign, Democratic sources tell ABC News.

Returning to the Senate after his securing the Democratic presidential nomination, Obama and Lieberman greeted each on the Senate floor in the Well as they were voting on the budget resolution.

They shook hands. But Obama didn’t let go, leading Lieberman - cordially - by the hand across the room into a corner on the Democratic side, where Democratic sources tell ABC News he delivered some tough words for the junior senator from Connecticut, who had just minutes before hammered Obama's speech before the pro-Israel group AIPAC in a conference call arranged by the McCain campaign. ,,,"

Lieberman can support whomever he wants. Or can he? Obama can feel how he wants, even say what he wants, but to bully him in front of ppl, no matter how cordial is not nice. I wonder if this is a picture of things to come? I can't wait to watch the show. I heard someone on the news the other day saying that if Obama is chosen, the Dems will soon have a case of buyers remorse. should be interesting....

Of course Senator Lieberman can support anyone he wants. He is, however, treading on thin ice by caucausing with the democratic party and holding a commitee chairmanship under the auspices of the party while campaigning actively with the republican presidential nominee. A little firm heart to heart with the presumed democratic presidential nominee (who campaigned for Senator Lieberman btw) was IMO long overdue. I'd hardly call what Senator Obama did bullying. My definition of a Senator being bullied would be when the VP tells him to f... off on the floor of the Senate. For those who want substance with posts click the link.

See, we see things differently. At least that was out in the open, he was mad, he cussed, dealt with it. But, the Obama/Leiberman incident seems (and I say seems, because noone knows what was said) bullyish. Quietly bullyish. Loud bullies show their colors, quiet ones are dangerous. jmo

That's good thinking there, Melissa. I totally agree with you. I also saw on the news that showed the camera on the Senate floor and how Obama took Leiberman away from the view of the camera. Sneaky, if you ask me.

While I don't remotely condone Cheney's verbiage, many accusations and frustrations have hotly been tossed about in the public eye in politics. Anger is a natural emotion and everyone is guilty of it at one time or another. It's not a big deal unless someone has a habit of unbridled fury that causes them to be impossible to deal with. That's not something I've heard about Cheney.

The Obama/Lieberman thing is odd to me because it happened so publicly. Surely Obama could've had his people call Lieberman's people and set up a private meeting somehow. For whatever reason, he *chose* that public venue to call Lieberman out. Either Obama's intended message was, "I have nothing to hide - I call 'em like I see 'em, when I see 'em, and don't care who is watching. I'm just that kinda guy," or he is clueless or perhaps brash and rude. It seems like the sort of conversation gentlemen would have in private. Doesn't sound like "O" gave Joe that option, though.

It's been suggested that McCain could put Lieberman on *his* ticket. That'd be interesting. It might pull the Jewish vote - which is typically seen as highly favoring the Democratic candidate - to the Right side.

But, McCains emotional outbursts and displays of anger and emotion are legendary.......

And seriously, that's okay with me, so long as they're not self-absorbed tirades over petty stuff. If he rants about issues that matter and is passionate about them, so be it.

Intemperate outbursts are not what I expect from the President of this country. I would not find that type of juvenile behaviour acceptable.

I wouldn't either on a daily basis.

But in the heat of a debate or a hot discusson? That's fine. So long as he doesn't throw vases at anyone.

It's only juvenile if you whine and pout.

Temper tantrums are not mature behaviour. McCain once shoved Strom Thurmon, 34 years his senior, on the floor after a heated argument. This is unacceptable behaviour.
