| McCain's speech
I wish that he had given specifics. I was expecting 9/11 to be mentioned but it was totally out of line for him to use footage of the 9/11 jumpers, It was crass and showed no respect for the victim's families.

| This is getting tiresome I'm sure but ... a noun, a verb, POW. A noun, a verb, purple bandaid pic

Newsflash: Obama doesn't make a big deal out of pretending not to want to talk about his experiences and then do it anyway, like McCain does. If you have evidence to the contrary, please share it.

I see no big deal with either of them talking about the things in their life that left an impression on them. |

When did Obama ever pretend he was reticent to talk about that? Do you see the difference between than and McCain's faux modesty? This issue isn't the talking, the issue is the pretending not to want to and then doing it anyway.

but they do anyway. I am sure Obama is more than pleased to talk about being a community organizer. Here more about a "community organizer" from someone that has done it before. Obama's "community organizer" phase was about political power, not soup kitchens | The Windy Citizen |

I think that McCain is a hero. I can't imagine being a POW for such a long period. It really is remarkable. But does that mean he is a person for whom I should vote? No. He doesn't hold dear the positions that I do. I don't even trust him to hold fast to the positions that he currently espouses, since his positions change with the political tide. I'm not voting for the best POW, any more than I am voting for the best community organizer. I'm voting for someone who I think will express and press for my ideals as President. And that is Obama. Like it or leave it, there are very wide gulfs between the postions of Obama and McCain on issues. No thinking voter, in my opinion, would make their choice solely upon whether they valued McCain's POW service as more important than Obama's community service. McCain did experience horrible things. I'm not about to argue that he didn't suffer physically and emotionally during his captivity. But I don't view this election as a referendum as a sum total of who sacrificed more at some point in their life. I view it who can deliver more as president. And specifically, who would deliver more on the things that I think are important. So, I admire McCain. I wouldn't actually want to sit at a dinner party with him, because he strikes me as totally caught up in the Mania of the Maverick, but I do admire him. I'm voting for Obama because he does represent what I believe in. And nothing else on the fringes really matters that much. |
