Iowa

Predictions for Iowa???

According to the polls it seems Clinton/Obama are in a dead heat. And Romney/Huckabee are in a tight race. Not that I believe polls all that much.

Just thought I would post since it seems this board has been a little dead.

I'm thinking Senator Obama in first and hoping for Edwards second although the reverse would make me happy. Found it interesting that Kunicich asked his supporters to stand for Obama if he (Kucinich) doesn't get enough support to continue.

On the republican side I'm thinking Huckabee and Romney, although I'm wondering why Huckabee thought it was a good move to fly to LA to be on the Tonight show rather then meet with his supporters in Iowa. Have no idea who will be in third place. Will be interesting to see where Paul shows up.

Heard that Iowa has a population of around 3 million and it is expected that somewhere around 200,000 will participate tomorrow. Lot of responsibility for that little state.

The last 60 days here have been amazing. Iowa is taking it's job seriously and tons of people are out spreading the word about the candidates. In the last 2 days Bill and Hilary, Michelle and Barack, John Edwards, Chris Dodd, Mitt Romney have all been withing 1/2 hour of here. I have been able to go and listen to each one several times over the last few months. We have tutorials on exactly how to caucus. My kids (18, 25 and 27) have all made plans to attend tomorrow night. Most papers here have Edwards, Clinton and Obama in a three way tie basically. The candidates, especially Obama have really zeroed in on the college crowd, good move. They have energized the 20 somethings. I am excited that the next president will be chosen by a true cross section of the country. I can hardly wait for tomorrow evening!

It looks like it's Huckabee on the Republican side, which really surprised me. I thought Romney would do better.

As a Democrat, I'm thrilled to see Huckabee doing so well right now, because I don't think he could beat any of the Democratic candidates in the general election.

Also as a Democrat, let me say woo-hoo to Iowa for choosing Obama!

Well, I'm a happy camper today -- glad Senator Obama's win was unquestionable and wish Edwards second place could have been a bit more decisive. Liked Obama's speech. I hadn't really seen him in full "campaign" mode before last night. He seems so much more comfortable now then he did at some of the earlier debates.

As for Rev. Huckabee -- interesting choice.

To echo kvmj -- WTG Iowa and thank you!!!

How exciting was last night! Our last caucus held 125 people in our precinct. This year 450! We had 40 people under 25. That is going to be the key imo. The 20 something crowd is going to be heard this time. I am pleased with J Edwards numbers too. Alot of people have written him off. These 2 men have impressed me greatly. I am so proud to be a citizen of this state. Iowa is the butt of many jokes. I live here I know the gem it is.

Especially since twice as many Iowans caucused for Democratic candidates than for Republicans. Obama, Edwards and Clinton all got twice as many votes as Huckabee.

I'm needing a political time out I think. Already tired of all of them. Of course the next big stumble or disgrace will perk me right up again...8-)
