That happens a lot in my area. I vote for myself as a write-in.

I will have to check and make sure that we can write smeone here. If so, I will write in the name of the candidate I like. If not I will not vote.

I have never had that problem voting for president. There have been times when I haven't made up my mind in the primaries until I was actually in the booth.

In 2004, I wanted to see if our paperless voting machines were accurate. I got 11 people to write my name in (after swearing I couldn't win) but the only that recorded was the peron who wrote in their vote.

Write in vote tabulations vary by state. I work in the Auditors Office (part0time) in Iowa and we used to have to officially count every single write in vote. I'm not up on current law here but I think there now has to be a threshold met before they have to be counted. That's s good idea since people actually do write in Mickey Mouse and that used to have to be counted and all that adds more time to what election personel have to do and they are busy enough with legitimate votes!

IMO, all votes should be counted, write in included. Election personnel are paid or volunteered to do a job and my expectation, as a voter, is that they will do it no matter how busy they are.

To answer the original question, usually there is more on the ballot then the presidential nominees. Don't vote for any of them if you like but don't skip the rest of what may be on the ballot.

I can understand wanting all votes to be counted but I guess after awhile Sponge Bob and Marilyn Manson get old! Yes, they do get paid but they work sooo much overtime during election season it just adds so much more paperwork.
