Movie Stars and the Democratic Party

It seems a lot of "Hollywood" endorses the Democratic party. Does anyone know why? Any clues??

I think there may be some high profile actors who support the democratic party. George Clooney (yummy) comes to mind, but I think there are quite a few who are republicans or don't discuss which side of the aisle they are on. The republican party has elected a number of actors to office but I can't think of one actor ever elected as a democrat.

Thinking its a good talking point for some but reality doesn't quite match verbiage.

Lots of Hollywood folks are liberal and the Dems are the liberal party! Susan Sarandon, Barbara Streisand, Tim Robbins, Rob Reiner, Christie Lahti, etc... I don't know of too many vocal Republicans although there are some like the previous postere stated, Dennis Miller and Bruce WIllis are two.

I think this is a valid theory...much like why you see a lot of bigger corporations with ties to the military and/or oil who are supporters of the Republican party. I would assume that is because the Republicans *usually* endorse/sponsor legislation that would benefit them. And it seems that the "older" the money, the more likely a person, or company is to favor Republicans.

Of course, most people, regardless of their economic status usually are drawn to the party that they feel will be most beneficial to them in the long run. I could be wrong in my assumptions--it's just my theory.

Republicans in Hollywood that I know of include Dennis Miller, Bruce Willis, Patricia Heaton, Arnold Schwartenegger, Chuck Norris, Kelsey Grammer, Bo Derek, Tom Selleck, Pat Sajak, Mel Gibson, James Woods, Charleton Heston, Charlie Daniels, Ted Nugent, Ben Stein, and Danny Aiello.

I don't think they're exactly an endangered species, just maybe not as vocal or not as willing to support their causes publicly or financially (Patricia Heaton is a notable exception.)

Other republicans are Kevin Costner, Sylvester Stallone, Clint Eastwood and Robert Duvall.

Here's a list that will give everyone a jolt. I keep hearing how there are no Republicans in Hollywood. Au contraire. The place seems to be swarming with them if this list is anywhere near accurate.

Oh, but it's so much more fun to pretend that Hollywood is overrun by crazy Democrats!

I personally think actors need to stick to what they do best, acting. In fact at times is has actually turned me off listening to some of the dribble they go on about. To this day I refuse to watch any movie with/directed by etc. Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins. I don't like some of their political views, I refuse to put money in their pockets.

LOL, that is too funny! (even though I am now a Republican, I wasn't back then and I didn't vote for Reagan) I still don't understand how people say he is one of the best presidents.

Wow, this has really enlightened me. I thought most all of Hollywood was Democratic. I remember several times actors/actresses getting in their jabs at the awards shows.

I agree, and wish they would stick to what they do best, or, in some cases, for a living.....LOL.

The list is filled with names I don't recognize or over the age of 50. I was surprised to see Jessica Simpson's name on the list, but chalk that up to her not knowing which party is which

The majority of liberals mentioned by previous posters are no spring chickens: Barbara Streisand, Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, etc.
