According to this article 35% of the maintenance on some US airline carriers is outsourced. Out of country service is cheaper which allows for cheaper airfare and of course, stockholders want their dividends.

Aside from the fact that "we" seem to be willing to jeopardize our safety for a cheap ticket, these were well paying jobs filled by men and women who paid taxes and spent their paychecks to support our economy. What exactly are we getting from Salvador, one of the countries where airline maintenace work is done , that makes it worth our while to send our good jobs there?

Globalization

Some want us to believe that we need to outsouce for the good of the world. That we need to understand the rest of the world needs jobs.

Companies are given tax breaks/credits to send jobs away. Not everything is company greed..our own government encourages this by the policies they put in place.

The US needs to start manufacturing our own goods again. We should have fair trade policies with other countries. We have very loopsided agreements now, which is only hurting our US workers.
