quotes from obamas books! made me think twice!

Subject: Obama

Pay close attention to the last comment!! Below are a
few lines from
Obama's books in his own words:

From Dreams of My Father: "I ceased to advertise my
mother's race at
the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by
doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites."

From Dreams of My Father : "I found a solace in
nursing a pervasive
sense of grievance and animosity against my mothers
race."

From Dreams of My Father: "There was something about
him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself,
maybe. And white."

From Dreams of My Father; "It remained necessary to
prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to
the black masses, to strike out and name names."

From Dreams of My Father: "I never emulate white men
and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It
was into my father's image, the black man, son of
Africa , that I'd packed all the attributes I sought
in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm,
DuBois and Mandela."

From Audacity of Hope: "I will stand with the
Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly
direction."

Quotes that are twisted, misstated and taken out of context say more about the person that would post such garbage than about anyone else.

Exactly!

Just googling one of the "quotes" makes me realize how many folks really are "stuck on stupid".

OP's "quote" from Audacity of Hope:

"I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

Actual quote from Audacity of Hope:

""In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

There are audio clips (do a google search) of some portions of his book Dreams of My Father.
These are taken from his own (Obama's voice) audio recording of the book.

Listening to Obama is more shocking than reading portions of the book.
Of course, this are just sound bites..but just like Rev. Wright's soundbites it was this same message clearly.
I will try to listen to the whole audio book.

This is the kind of ignorance that seems to be running rampant. If someone picks a line out of context to fit their agenda it makes that person look deceitful. Unfortunatly not enough people take the time to find the whole paragraph or thought. If you do not like one candidate or another that is fine, but to twist their words and thoughts to fit an agenda is dishonest.

It does send a message -- but not about Wright or Obama.

I disagree....

I am of the opinion that the good Rev. Wright by continuing to provide sound bites is harming Obama's campaign. Of course, I feel that the former President Bill Clinton has done the same thing to his wife's campaign.

But, the difference is--Bill Clinton appears to be an overzealous spouse who has become a screeching cheerleader and is just annoying.

Rev. Wright has made some pretty inflammatory sound bites and statements (and yes, I have listened to the them in context) that do seem to indicate his character. His statement of "it's not me they are attacking, it's the black church" is so far fetched! No one has attacked the church or the religion--just the good Rev. Wright's fanatical preaching and apparently his feelings on white vs. black.

I feel if Rev. Wright, (and Bill Clinton) would shut their yapping--their respective candidates would catch a lot less flack.

And for the record--I have listened/watched Obama speak: While his mouth is moving, his eyes do not reflect (to me) sincerity. His eyes seem to be dead. He does not inspire hope in me. I'm not moved by his speeches. I wanted to like him--I really did! I just can't.

I agree and would even take it a step further: I believe that Wright is intentionally trying to sabatoge Obama's campaign.

Well, to each, but I don't remotely see that in Obama.

yes, I'm sure there are people out there that enjoy listening to the current president....He makes my skin crawl, my stomach turn and either my blood boil or my head hurt.

I throw up a little in my mouth. Sometimes my head explodes.
