Did anyone hear what Sen Clinton said about not dropping out of the race in regards to the CA primaries in June and something to do with Robert Kennedy? My husband called me from the freeway and said it is all over the talk radio.

"Earlier Friday afternoon, she told the editorial board of the Sioux Falls Argus Leader that "My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don't understand it," she said.

Clinton complained that "people have been trying to push me out of this ever since Iowa" and said that position "historically ... makes no sense."

Later at an event in Brandon, South Dakota, she said, "earlier today, I was discussing the Democratic primary history and in the course of that discussion mentioned the campaigns that both my husband and Sen. Kennedy waged in California in June in 1992 and 1968, and I was referencing those to make the point that we have had nominating primary contests that go into June. That's an historic fact.

"The Kennedys have been much on my mind in the last days because of Sen. [Edward] Kennedy, and I regret that if my referencing that moment of trauma for our entire nation and particularly for the Kennedy family was in any way offensive. I certainly had no intention of that whatsoever," Clinton added."

I don't think that is what she meant to say but I'm a firm believer in what comes out of your mouth in unguarded moments is quite frequently something you've thought about at some point. There have been a number of other presidential primaries that have gone through June which she could have referenced other then the one which ended so horrifically.

I don't think she was being malicious in her comment , but I did find the citing of the Kennedy assasination to be out of place.
So odd, yes.
Deliberately hurtful, I don't believe so.

Stupid and tasteless. And her apology was one of those fake ones. Not "I'm sorry," but "I'm sorry if you were offended." What bothered me even more was her repeated lie that her opponent had been trying to force her out of the race. That's just not true.

Edited to add: Hillary really explains why she is staying in., that she is the stronger candidate to go up against McCain.

I agree. I didn't have a high opinion of her before and now it is even lower. She may not have meant what it came across as but in her position, she should know to watch every word that comes out of her mouth.
