Thumbs down Al Gore Is Such a Hypocrite!

Americans for Prosperity - Americans for Prosperity Foundation :: Gore's Hypocrisy Exposed in New Video: His Entourage's Lincoln Town Car Outside Global Warming Speech Idles w/ AC Cranking for 20 Minutes!

See above link. Al Gore speaks to crowd about global warming last week while outside he leaves 2 limos and an SUV running with air conditioning on!! I would think those who are truly concerned about global warming maybe should be finding a better spokesperson for the cause.

Not that I approve of Mr. Gore's car idling for 20 minutes but I did find it interesting that the "Americans for Prosperity Foundation" is funded by the Koch family foundation which is the "nation's largest privately held energy company, with annual revenues of more than $25 billion.

Quote:
Funding for the foundations comes from the conglomerate Koch Industries, the "nation's largest privately held energy company, with annual revenues of more than $25 billion. ... Koch Industries is now the second largest family-owned business in the U.S., with annual sales of over $20 billion."

"The company is owned by two of the richest men in America," David H. Koch and Charles G. Koch (described as 'reclusive billionaires'), who have a combined personal fortune estimated at more than $3 billion and who have emerged as major Republican contributors in recent years. ... Both David and Charles Koch are ranked among the 50 richest people in the country by 'Forbes'."

The Koch brothers control the three family foundations that have "lavished tens of millions of dollars in the past decade on 'free market' advocacy institutions in and around Washington."[2] --'The Nation', "What Wouldn't Bob Dole Do for Koch Oil?"

The foundations are financed via the oil and gas fortunes of Fred G. Koch, a founding member of the John Birch Society. David is a libertarian who "provides a significant amount of funding for the Cato Institute's $4 million annual budget."

Curtis Moore's Rethinking the Think Tanks (subtitled How industry-funded 'experts' twist the environmental debate) appeared in the September/October 2002 issue of Sierra magazine. Moore states that, "The views will seem to be coming from an independent think tank -- the Cato Institute or Citizens for a Sound Economy (CSE), for example ... behind these groups stands the [Koch] brother's vast fortune."

In fact, Charles Koch is a co-founder of Cato in 1977 and David helped to launch CSE in 1986. This, says Moore, is the brothers simply following in "dad's footsteps: Fred Koch was a charter member of the ultraconservative John Birch Society in 1958."

I'm not surprised, especially after I saw that this was true. Hypocrite at his finest.

It is not like HE left the car running....the driver of the car hired for him (not his own personal driver) left the car running. But for those looking to point fingers, anything will do......

Oh, c'mon now.

Does he run the show and call the shots with his entourage or do the just exist to tote him around without regard to maintaining the principles the entoruage exists to promote?

If Billy Graham's personal driver went to strip clubs for lap dances while his boss was in church giving sermons do you think it might make the news?

IMO, not news for anyone with a modicum of common sense.

What a ridiculous comparison (but not surprised at all)!!! Strip clubs and idling cars are comparable exactly how? Do you know if this was HIS "entoruage, or whether he was someplace that he had unfamiliar help? If, indeed, these were even his "own" people, did Mr. Gore KNOW that the cars were idling? Do you know that for a fact? Do you know that if Mr. Gore found out about it later whether he set up perameters for future excursions? You are really grasping at straws .... but those that choose to believe your faulty logic will, and those who know better just know better.

Aw, he probably had more important things on his mind than global warming - things like his inventions. I think you ought to give the man who took credit for inventing the Internet a break. How can such a deep thinker be expected to bother with such trivial inconsistencies when he's no doubt on the verge of dazzling the world with another contribution to mankind?

Sounds like a lot of jealousy here....he is an extremely educated man who is attempting to actually do good and help create a more healthy and enduring environment not only in the U.S., but in the world. Yeah, I guess he deserves to be belittled and torn down because he falls on the wrong side of your political fence.

Ummmm.... alrighty. Not surprised? Was that meant to be an insult? Thanks.

It's a good analogy. Mr. Graham is inside preaching about the evils of illicit sexual activity while the car that took him there - the car bought and paid for by funds donated by people who share his views - is out and about carrying someone to and from the very activities he's inside preaching against.

It's one thing if Mr. Graham thinks his driver was sitting there having Bible studies along the sidewalk, and quite another if he KNOWS what his driver is doing on company time with company property and doesn't take charge and say, "Not with this car and not while you're on the clock will you be doing things that go against the very fiber of what this organization is about."

Why do you expect less organizational integrity from Al Gore than you should?

Sorry, but I don't see him that way at all. Do you know how NON-green his home is?

It's all about cashing in on the fears of the American public for Gore. He doesn't LIVE the way he preaches to US we need to live.

Why this sudden interest in Al Gore again? If I remember correctly wow, we had this SAME conversation about a year and a half ago. Remember? You brought up the fact that he uses a lot of energy and truble pointed out that he offsets that energy that he uses w/ buying TONS of green credits. Why another go round?

Are repubs looking for something to distract us from the BS McCain is spewing in his newest commercial? The one that's been debunked over and over again now? Or are they not wanting to talk about crazy conservative man who KILLED people b/c he didn't like their liberal ideas? Or how about McCain going back on his word about running a clean campaign and then embracing Rove's protegee?

Here is perhaps a better analogy.

I have to say - the whole carbon footprint credit thing makes me giggle. Seriously giggle.

He sins so that grace may abound....

And yes, ana, actually, that IS a good analogy. Thank you. What a slimebag that man is, too!

Did anyone even look at the video on the link provided? It states on the tickets and posters that Al Gore told people who attended the lecture to walk, ride bicycles or public transportion to attend the lecture. If someone can't even do what he asks others to do, he shouldn't be lecturing other people.

He's so useless and such a joke! It upsets me that he wins a Nobel Peace Prize when there are others out there who actually deserved it!

Oh please, the "energy company employee" doing the interviewing spoke to less than a half dozen people about how they got to the seminar. Hundreds attended, the majority of whom probably did take public transit or whatever. Odds are good that if Mr. Gore had taken public transit there would be complaints because his entourage took up too many seats on the bus.

IMO, conservatives are hardly in a position to call Mr. Gore or any other liberal/progressive a hypocrite.

Speaking of useless and jokes, who is your nominee for the Nobel -- Mr. Cheney for his marksmanship?

Excellent analogy - I thought so even before you connected the dots...

I am a supporter of Al Gore and his work, but I have to say that your comparison was legitimate and thought-provoking.

Thanks, Ma'am!

I'm admittedly not a supporter of him and his work because he does seem very extreme to me in word, and I'm not on board with what seems to me to be more hysteria than reality. I just don't think the human race is responsible for an Earth that's on the verge of implosion. I'm not convinced of global warming, and think that even if our energy use is causing elevated temperatures that the use of fossil fuels is just a blip in the history of the world and that before any irreversible damage could occur we'll have moved on to some other energy source that burns clean. We won't be burning oil in 150 years, IMHO, and so all the arguments meant to get us to stop aren't ultimately going to result in any long-term difference.

I also think that he's not talking to the right audience. If the issue is global warming brought about by the burning of fossil fuels, while we do use more energy than any other nation, we are actually already one of the cleaner nations in the world. Lesser-developed nations that don't care at all about air quality are much worse offenders, and if the US reverted back to Little House on the Prairie days the *Earth* wouldn't really notice much.

No doubt the US imports things from the nations with the lower restrictions on pollution and so in a round-about way, we do have some culpability there... but what I hear Al Gore preaching on the news and the talk shows has to do with what we drive.

While I think that from a micro-scientific perspective he *knows* chemistry, etc., from a 'big picture' angle, I just don't think fossil fuels are how God is going to take this place down. I'm not fully convinced that Al Gore believes it either.... but if he does, to me, he seems to think that his 'superior message-delivering purpose' outweighs is need to abide by the very message he is carrying around....

Kind of like some preacher-type who preaches against the ills of strong drink but knocks back a few strong ones every night, convincing himself that the rules don't apply to HIM because after all, he is the messenger so whatever he needs to do to keep himself sailing along so he can DELIVER the message is justified.

Gore's obscenely huge, energy-guzzling house, the big vehicles he rides around in.... I just think he sees himself as being 'above' the very message he's carrying. That's where the hypocrisy comes into play.

For such a "useless" person...he sure generates a lot of negative discourse from you. Talk about hypocritical....

What??? It's none of your business what my opinion is of him. He's a hypocrite. He's a 'do as I say -- not as I do." He wants people to sacrifice but he's not willing to make sacrifices himself. People need to know what he does (or what he doesn't do in this case). Yes, he sure does generate a lot of negative discourse because that is exactly what he is causing and people need to know he doesn't practice what he preaches.

The whole problem is that you want people to "know what he does" but HE DID NOT DO THIS. He was not the driver. He did not leave the car idling for any length of time. You opened this thread with this example of what SOMEONE ELSE did.
