Hillary Clinton asks not to be nominated at Democratic National Convention

Petitions abound, but Hillary Clinton won't put in for a nomination, insiders say.
Hillary Clinton has decided against being nominated for President at the Democrats' Denver convention, but many of her more die-hard partisans may vote for her anyway.

A source close to the New York senator confirmed she won't file a formal request to the convention asking to be nominated along with Barack Obama, who eked out the victory in their fierce primary slugfest.

"She is not going to submit the signed request," the insider told the Daily News. "People are still circulating petitions on her behalf, but this is a done deal."

Party rules stipulate that Clinton must ask in writing to be nominated herself and also submit a petition signed by 300 to 600 delegates. Without her signed request, petitions of support are meaningless.

That's good to know. I heard yesterday she has been scheduled to speak the afternoon/evening of the second day.

This is the first time in a while I've even heard anyone mention her! Never see her on TV anymore.

Uh, this is a rumor. Last I heard she was going to have her delegates seated(as they should be). She got 18,000,000 votes and as much as SOME might like that to mean nothing, it does.

Personally, if her name ain't called then the DNC will not be getting my vote in Novenber no matter what. I don't do banana republic.

Voting for John McCain or Bob Barr or Ralph Nader will really show your support for HRC, won't it?

I don't give a rip how many votes HRC got, she still lost. Would that her supporters would be as smart and gracious about that realization and she has been over the past several weeks.

Yeah, some of them are acting like Al Gore supporters did when he lost a few years ago.

Anyone else find it "hilaryous" when people say they "were going to vote for Hilary but instead will vote for" McSame? I always get a chuckle out of that. Yeah, Hilary and John are SOOOOOOO much alike. Take your toys and go vote for whomever, just stop whining about her not winning.

Not to completely dredge up the past here, but hanging chads and all.... the recounts did show Bush as the winner in Florida, albeit by a miniscule margin.

I quit keeping up with the left-wing lovefest that was going on during the primaries and don't know exactly how they ended. Did Hilary end up winning the popular vote? I know at one time she was ahead in that race, but as we all know, the only one that counts has to do with delegates....
