Be careful about the racist word. In our town the crime rate has soared which matches the influx of "south side Chicgoans" moving here. The town has a 4% African American population (quickly rising) but fill 36% of the jail space. And no, it's not racial profiling. About everyday there's an arrest of a Latrel or Kanesha for some crime-robbery, mugging, etc... There's a "ghetto" area developing in a certain part of town...Now would you call me a racist? It must sound like I am but the facts tell the truth here.
I don't know anything about Toby Keith. I know things can be taken out of context. I just hate to see the racist term flung so easily.

You are MOST DEFINITELY racist---not an iota of doubt in my mind. And, just because YOU say it has nothing to do with profiling certainly does not make it true (just like so many other things you say). Profiling means that people are seperated out from the general population and target for stops just because of the color of their skin. Of course, since profiling targets specific races over others, the arrest stats will definitely be skewed against that race. The fact that you stoop to citing what you feel are AA names such as Latrel and Kanesha shows the low-brow (read NEANDERTHAL) mentality you so obviously have and display. But, once again, not a bit of a surprise to so many of us here......

Facts are facts sweeties!!! in the last week here we had three black people stealing purses, a young black man robbing a gas station and a taxi driver exposing himself. ALL IN ONE WEEK. Like I stated the population is less than 4%. It DOES NOT make someone a racist to point out FACTS. There has been a DRASTIC increase in crime here, predominately black, and mostly do to an influx from Chicago. It is what it is. Facts are facts. Wait, mabye libs dont' like facts-just like to name call and assume the worst.

Profiling..you are half right.. seperated out from the general population is more than just a "person color of their skin". It is just not "just" a race issue.

Forrest....what constitutes the rest of profiling? Not challenging you...just curious.

In any case, when you target specifics and not the general population, then all stats are skewed.

Some other examples would be economic status (middle class, lower class, etc). Things like poor "looking" (shabby dressed, etc) people are target more in stores to be shoplifters instead of the fine dressed people.
Used to be years ago..people that rode motorcycles were targeted more when they rode into town.
People that use a lot of cash are now targeted because police think of drug dealers.
Things like that are also form of profiling.

Populatin in this town is 87% white, 4% black. Jail population is 36% black. That is not racism. That is a fact. WHen enough Tyrells and Tanisha's show up with their pics in the paper regularly getting arrested for this and that it doesn't take too much of a brain to figure out the rise in crime around here.
A + B = C. It could be from proverty or drugs or bad educations or whatever but the facts are the facts.

It MIGHT be the cops are targeting a certain group, so that a large number of arrests go up. Sometimes cops do pick on one group while not doing anything to another group.
BUT it also MIGHT be several others facts playing into it ..such as proverty (which does cause more crimes).
This is a big problem in our country ...we need to find the "real answer" as to why so many blacks and other miniorties are a large percentage of the jail population. Once you find out why then we can try to find solutions.

That would be good since you obviously don't have too much of a brain to deal with. And, your "facts" come from where you choose to take them....and definitely do not trust your "sources". Do you know how many white people exposed themselves this week? How many purse snatching were perpetrated by non-blacks? How many robberies or muggings were done by non-blacks?

Yes, I do no how many white people commited similar crimes that week-NONE. These are actual arrest records, with names in the paper, court cases online. I didn't make this up. THey are the facts.
The police aren't profiling the bank robbers on the secuity cameras, the victims descriptions and the arrests made from evidence and victim identification. How in the world could that be considered profiling???? There crimes are usually commited with witnessess. Not I suppose you could assume all the victims in this town have banded together and lied about the perpetrators but I think it's more likely to believe the victims and the outcome of the cases.
The percentage of crime in this county has increased proportionally to the influx of a certain race of people. That is backed up by statistics. That's not racism. It's FACT.

Going back to Toby Keith, which is what the OP was talking about -- I watched this interview with Glenn Beck. The entire hour was a one-on-one interview by Beck with Toby. It was to promote his new movie "Beer for My Horses." In the interview, yes, Toby did say what was quoted. What wasn't quoted, though, is that Toby also said he was a Democrat. Beck asked him who he was voting for and Toby said he was still undecided.

Another thing people are talking about is Toby being racist because of the "Beer for My Horses" song. The song, "Beer For My Horses" was co-written with Willie Nelson back in 2003. In it Toby sings about all the crime in the world today and Willie Nelson responds with the following verse: "Grandpappy told my pappy: Back in my day, son, / A man had to answer for the wicked that he done / Take all the rope in Texas, find a tall oak tree / Round up all of them bad boys, hang / them high in the street / For all the people to see ". Back in the western times, people who stole horses, robbed banks and such were taken out and hung. If you've seen the video and read all the lyics to the song, you'll see it's talking about the Wild West -- not racial at all.

Toby Keith is one of most loved entertainers for our troops. He's goes to the Middle East a lot and is one of the greatest supporters of the troops.

I just read the post about his movie as being critical of his acting and writing of the movie. Willie sang the song with Toby Keith and is in the movie, but don't see where Willie had a part in writing the song or the movie but he may have. BTW, Ted Nugent is also in the movie. Don't see anything racist in the song lyrics and don't think that the song was what was being criticized in the OP but maybe I missed something.

Somehow, Kathy was able to tell according to their names, Latrell and Keneisha (I think) that they were the ones doing all the crime inferring that they were AA and the cause of the crime rate rising. I don't see any of those names but I am tired and perhaps missed them.

Apparently KTS, the OP of the post below, is capable of divining the race of an individual by their name. Latrel and Kanesha = AA. Using KTS logic, the Aaron and Julie's on the list must be white. To be fair I did see one Latrel and lots and lots of Robert's and John's, again all white using KTS logic.

The acting and writing of the script was not great but the music was very good. Toby Keith was co-writer of the movie and played the lead, two tasks he is not up to. I didn't even pay any attention to the lyrics, I seldom do, but I, and the other two who were with me, very much enjoyed the music throughout the whole movie. And for those of you who remember Mel Tillis, he has a very short little part in the movie as well.

Of c c c course I remember Mel Tillis -- love him!... and of course Willie can do no wrong IMO. Heard someone refer to Toby Keith as a Burt Reynolds type which I thought was quite a stretch. Burt in the Smokey days was a cutie!!

I see, the paper prints the recent arrests but they can't be trusted to print the truth so that it matches what you said which was no arrests of white people were made in the last week. You cited as proof the fact that Latrel and Kenesha were among the only ones arrested and no white people were arrested. It must be some kind of conspiracy there in IA to prove you wrong. I wish you would provide arrest records from the last few days that prove you correct so I can write to the paper and ask that the record be corrected.

It is laughable that you now provide nothing to prove your statement that you say you provided "facts " for.......unless you have some other sources somewhere. That vast left wing conspiracy is working against you, isn't it? (that is sarcasm)

What paper online are you talking about? I googled and came up with the one I posted that you said couldn't be trusted. I don't see anything that supports your statement. Especially I don't see any "facts" .

All I want is for you to back up your statement with the "facts" you say you have provided that actually prove that because a certain race has moved in, the last week the only people arrested in your community have AA names therefore the percentage of crime in that county has increased proportionally to the influx of a certain race of people.

I do not know which state, etc that "kathytheshopper" lives but most can find pictures and more information on the inmates in your area jail.

Click on the person's name: shows picture and race/sex information, also lists the crime.

I think we all agree with that. Where we disagree is where shopper is getting her "facts" about the names and race of people that are committing crimes in her area. Others have tried to find any arrests of people with those, per shopper, "black names" and are coming up empty. There's been a request for her to back up her allegations with specifics and those requests are being ignored. Obviously, if she says she saw a report of a Latrel and Kanesha being arrested in her area, there must be some site or cite she can point us to.

That ought to tell you something too.
