If the Edwards affair had become known back in the spring...

Would Hillary be the presumed candidate for the Democrats today?

Not in my opinion although I gather members of her campaign staff are making rumblings to that effect. Among my acquaintances those that were for Senator Edwards went to Senator Obama when he dropped out.

That was just brought up on Hannitys radio program. Obama won here in Iowa but Edwards and Hillary split the rest of the votes. If Edwards wasn't in it then who knows? Certainly sounds possible.

HRC's people need to check the stats. Of the Edwards voters, Obama was the second choice of far more of them than HRC was. And, of course, they weren't the only three in the race. Some of Edwards' votes might have gone to Dodd, Biden, Richardson, Kucinich, etc.

HRC is another fantasy world dweller!

Well, considering that by the time Edwards dropped out, Obama had 11 straight wins, I'd have to say no, Hilary would be still have lost. Obviously he was on his way to the win well before Edward's endorsement.

Actually, the speculation was that there was an early win or two of Obamas where Edwards was 2nd and HRC a close 3rd. Had she gotten enough of Edward's votes to make her the winner in some of those early states, she'd have been the one benifitting from the early momentum and possibly enough delegates to pull off a win.

As usual, Hannity is wrong on the facts. Biden, Richardson and "uncommitted" also got votes in Iowa.

In the next few months I think people will be saying "if I only knew that before I voted". The whole outcome of this presidental race might have been very different.

Learn to read please. I didn't quote Hannity. Also the results were Obama 38%, Edwards 30% and Clinton 29%. I really doubt all of the Edwards votes would have gone to Biden or Richardson. 30% is quite a hefty number-could have changed the outcome.

Fine, if you weren't quoting Hannity, you must have been making those facts up yourself. Again -- as usual.

My first post here had NO QUOTES. My other post had the results from the Iowa Caucus and I think there were from CNN. I googled to get them. YOU can verify them if you want to, You are all just demonstrating, post after post, your mob mentality here.

"Mob mentality?" I don't think that means what you think it means.

Please post where on CNN it was reported that Edwards, Clinton and Obama split all the Iowa votes. That's what you posted. Was CNN lying or were you? Until you post proof that CNN said it (and why, then, were you talking about Hannity??), I'll assume it was you. That seems the likeliest answer.

ABC News: Primary Results By State

Who knows if people would have changed their vote, or who they would have voted for.
But the possibility does exist.

Every discussion of exit polls I have seen gives Senator Obama a larger win if Senator Edwards had not been in the Iowa race. The link I'm providing is from a "left" site so will be discounted by some, but it does give actual poll results.

Quote:
As such, Iowa pollsters did a lot of work in trying to determine voters' second choices. And in virtually every survey, Clinton did rather poorly as a second choice: an average of several surveys in December showed that she was the second choice of about 20 percent of voters, as compared with 25 percent for Obama and Edwards (an even later version I have sitting on my hard drive showed the second-choice breakdown as Edwards 30, Obama 28.5, Clinton 23.5)

So the odds are that, if John Edwards had dropped out on the morning before the Iowa caucus, Obama would have won by more points rather than fewer.
Open Left:: Would Clinton Have Won Without Edwards?

Thank you very much forrestlayne! Yes, who knows who the Edwards people would have gone with for sure but he had enough votes to have possibly made a difference.

Isn't that the truth?!! I hadn't been online for a few days and came back to all the name calling and childish posts and actually laughed aloud! I posted something similiar to what you just posted on another thread before it was closed.

I guess when some get hit with things they actually don't know how to answer, they resort to the bottom of the barrel tactics.
