Forestlayne said: Quote:I do not understand why people think that just because you are a Republican that you agree with Bush on everything (including the war). I didn't say "Republicans, " I said "Bushians." Is it your claim that people that support Bush don't believe what he says? Bush in 2000 ran on a platform that I agreed with. I did not vote for him in 2004. There a lot of people that support the Republican ticket no matter what. The same as some Democrats will vote in a Democrat, There are not voting on "a person" rather they are voting "party line". Some Republicans probably do agree/believe what Bush says, others are just staying Republican. |

Who said that on that thread? |

My comment on the other thread was not directed to what any one person said..but to the general idea that if you are voting Republican (either before for Bush or now McCain) that you agree with what they say. I did not quote any other poster when I made the comment. My comment was not directed to your comment on the other thread..but rather to the general theme that has been coming out. I have no idea if "Bushians" believe what Bush says. I do think they are die-hard Republicans that will never vote Dem. Thinking - Better to have a Rep. anyday than a Dem. |

My ENTIRE post from the other thread: "I do not understand why people think that just because you are a Republican that you agree with Bush on everything (including the war). If that is the thinking then ...Democrats must agree with Obama on FISA, etc that he has currently voted on. His stance on Russia/Georgia conflict. His position on sending even more troops than McCain to Afghanistan. INSTITUTE FOR SOCIAL POLICY AND UNDERSTANDING - Did the Surge Work? I was responding to a general theme that have been noticing on several threads. People want to say your a Republican (and continuing to vote Rep) then you must agree with everything Bush says/does. I was trying to point out that it does not make sense either way (Rep or Dem.) to say that because you are voting a certain way that you agree with everything a candidate stands for. There are tons of reasons why someone is voting the way they are. Maybe to some it is the abortion issue, less government, etc. |

"People want to say"? WHAT PEOPLE?? No one here said it. You said it as though you were responding to some comment by me or ana or someone else on the liberal side. If you're just talking off the top of your head, responding to nothing at all, maybe it deserves a new thread to discuss it. |
