Biden Excusing himself from ticket.

I just got an email that things are in the works for Biden to excuse himself from the ticket and be replaced with Clinton, AFTER the VP debate. On or around the 5th of October. I don't know if it's true, or what, but I just wondered what everyone's thoughts would be IF it happened. Supposedly he will be citing "health" reasons.

Snopes acknowledges this email rumor and have labeled it "undetermined".
You can't prove something that has not happened yet. but my opinion; this is yet another urban legend type of email, passed from person to person and a some people automatically assume it's true. I don't believe it, not one bit.

Snopes also mentioned that rumors were going around in 2004 that Bush was going to dump Cheney. Too bad that was not true.

I totally understand that this is only a rumor, however, I thought I would just put it out there, IN CASE, it happened then we would all be ahead of the rumor. I just wanted to find out what everyone would think IF it happened.

Sounds beyond ridiculous. Probably another rumor from the freeper crowd. Why would he wait until AFTER the debate, when HRC would wipe the floor with Palin during the debate? Not that Biden won't, but at least HRC wouldn't have to worry that Palin would start whining (Palin's words) about sexism.

McCain has insisted on special rules for the veep debate. There will be no in depth answers to questions, just brief responses.

Still, I think it will be a bloodbath. HRC is a good debater.

Actually there have been several articles about this subject..not just "email rumors".

I do not think it will happen.

This link is an Opinion piece...not ANY inclination that this is what the ticket is planning to do or even thinking of doing. This is what the Opinion piece writer would like for it to happen, but I would like to be 25 and a size 2 again.....neither thing is going to happen just for wanting or wishing.

I'm not voting for him now because he's a radical Muslim and doesn't wear a flag pin. I just got that email, so I must change my voting decision. So sorry I didn't realize all the rumors were true until I got the official email.

Gee. . .the OP didn't say it was true. . .only IF it was what would you think.

To answer her question. . .it would be a stupid move to try and pick up the disgruntled Clinton supporters. I think only one candidate in recent history. . .maybe Mondale (don't quote me on that) switched vp's and it was not a good move.

I don't think there is any truth to it though and wouldn't spend too much time thinking about it.

I could be wrong, but I can only remember McGovern with Thomas Eagleton. who withdrew after the fact that he had received electroshock therapy swamped the campaign. McGovern then chose Sargent Shriver. He lost to Nixon in the general election.

Wow, just wow... I didn't say it was true, or even that it must be true because it came in an email. I asked what everyone would think about it IF it happened... The way all these democrats treat everyone else sure makes me want to switch parties, that way I can be as ignorant as I want to people asking SIMPLE questions!

I got an email from a Nigerian saying that I'd get a large share of millions of dollars if I share my bank account information with him. I'm just curious, what would you do if you got this email? Please don't call me stupid for considering it, or I may just have to send him the information out of spite so I can be as ignorant as you people making fun of me for asking a SIMPLE question!

What you do with your personal e-mails is your own business. Somebody asking people for their opinion on a "what if" political scenario on a political message board isn't even close to the same thing. Do you have an opinion or just being snarky?

I'm not sure what you expected the responses to be. What could a response to such a "what if" question consist of? Wondering about who his replacement might be, whether he really had "health" issues or if his stepping down was just an excuse to bring another nominee in because the ticket was behind in the polls? The scenerios are endless. Thinking those posters who referred you to snopes, etc., more or less answered your inquiry. Additionally, snopes write-up made it pretty clear it's likely an email rumor.

I'm not sure which party you belong to but if you're a democrat, what would you response to such a scenerio be? If you're a republican, how would you analyze such a occurence? I see lots of trashy stuff in emails and online about the members of each ticket and 99.9% of them are crap and not worth reading let alone trying to have an online conversation about.

The OP stated she received this "news" in an email. Why is her personal e-mail of interest and mine is not? I think the OP is being snarky. Conservatives love to publish rumors about the Democrats in hopes that it will be perceived as truth by the uninformed - "Gee, I heard that ......" and next thing you know there are a bunch of people who believe it and base their voting decisions on a lie. Just like all the idiots who think we went to war in Iraq to get Bin Laden.

First off, I wasn't being snarky. I got an email, I didn't say it was "news" I just wondered what people thought would happen if he did step down, apparently it's happened before with a VP, I didn't know that, I thought if it happened, that it would ruin Obama's chance at the White House, that's just what I thought, I was wondering if others, especially supporters thought the same thing, or if they thought it would be a good idea considering all the things Biden is saying. I was asking honest questions, and I'm not the only one asking this. When McCain picked Palin as his running mate there was a thread started on here how he should recant his pick... Why is this any different? Just because I got the topic in an email?

No I don't think it would be a good idea because it would momentarily take the campaign off message. We're in the final stretch of this election and I think too much time would be wasted wondering, speculating, second guessing and examinining the decision. That's just one reason I am confident this rumor is bogus.
However, I do feel that Hillary would make a fantastic running mate and I do not feel it would ruin Obama's chance at the White House.

I've said it before & I still believe it, no way no how will Obama ever want Hillary in there as he would not want 3 presidents in the white house.
