Deregulation has done such great things for banking, lets apply it to healthcare

This would be a McCain concept.

Imagine what will happen when all the money'd folks run to get into the health care business. Next, we'll get to bail out all the people with huge medical costs and hospitals who depend on insurance to pay for their patients. Wonderful .....

Yeah. . .because they did such a GREAT job at Walter Reed.

Health care and insurance industries are already big money.

There is not easy answer to the health care issue. I would love to see some kind of socialized health care, but I'm not all warm and fuzzy about seeing it turned into a federal bureaucracy.

Again - Walter Reed is an Army Medical Center. The Army runs the place. I think they may contract the work out, which begs more questions. But I don't know much about that. Additionally, WR is set to close in a few years. With all $$ going to the war, of course the wounded troops (who are not of much use any more) are going to get the shaft. We praise our soldiers until they are not of use to us. Then we treat them like an inconvenience. Hopefully, this is changing, but this is historically how the deal goes.

And, the reason for all the propoganda about the "horrors" of a national health insurance is exactly because of huge profit industries of health care, insurance and pharm companies scaring people.

We already socialize 60% of the health care provided in this country.

I understand what you are saying. I guess I would like to see it left at the state level though. In Washington we have Basic Health. . .it's a sliding scale system. I would like to hear anybodies opinions about the system they have in Hawaii. Anybody familiar with that? I think it would be more effective on a more local level. I know friends of my parents complain profusely about the system in Canada. My ex-husband is German and I think the system they have there seems pretty good. I'm just not sure if I've seen a plan offered that will be viable and good.

I know health insurace companies don't want to see a socialized system. . .that's a no brainer.
