Ron Paul (CNN - bailout)

I am amazed that the "mass media" is letting Ron Paul have coverage. This past week Paul has done a lot of interviews but this is a first whole "commentary piece" that I have seen for a while.

On the CNN website..front page.

Commentary: Bailouts will lead to rough economic ride - CNN.com

"Story Highlights
Ron Paul: Too much government meddling in economy caused crisis
Paul says the bailouts are another case of excessive intervention in economy
The government isn't letting the market adjust prices to lower levels, Paul says
Paul: Bailout will only increase financial instability in the long run"

"Rep. Ron Paul says the government's solution to the crisis is the same as the cause of it -- too much government."

I agree with Paul on this one. The reason behind this wasn't de-regulation. . .it was government meddling that encouraged Fannie and Freddie to make bad loans.

Laws passed by Congress such as the Community Reinvestment Act required banks to make loans to previously underserved segments of their communities, thus forcing banks to lend to people who normally would be rejected as bad credit risks.

Tomorrow Bernanke and Paulson are suppose to be appearing before the House Financial Services Committee. Hopefully Ron Paul will be able to attend.
