I'm not going to debate whether Teddy Roosevelt was or was not a great president. What I'm taking as given as that you do. Let's just talk about some of their differences, shall we? Teddy Roosevelt didn’t like the conservative Republican party, and wanted to make it more Progressive. Guess that doesn’t match up. He stood fast against monopolistic business corporations, and didn't trust them. I guess that doesn’t match up, certainly in the area of business interests. I guess you could try to draw a parallel between Palin and her supposed being a "maverick" within the Alaska party. Maybe if she was willing to talk a little more about "Troopergate," this might at least be a little bit in her favor. Otherwise, she has no history of standing firm against monopolistic business interests. Of course, she doesn't have much experience at all, which only leads to the fact that she has no experience where we even know about her position on monopolist powers or even whether she knows what that means. Before this gets too circular, who the hell knows because she doesn't have much experience. But I'm guessing, and I can't imagine that you're denying, that she stands behind big business. I'm willing to go out on a limb, a nice sturdy limb, and say she likes big business. In fact, the only difference between a monopolistic power and her, is lipstick. OK, I'm getting petty. Back to topic: Teddy Roosevelt wanted universal health care. Well, ouch. Guess that doesn’t match up. At least I don’t think it does. Because of the lockdown on Palin, I’m just guessing here. Maybe she LOVES universal health care. He wanted national health insurance. Hmmm. That seems a miss. He was a huge conservationist. Ok. I’m feeling like I’m fishing in a trout pool, if that is an appropriate analogy when talking about conservationism. Palin does hunt; so did TR. That doesn't make her a conservationist. He was. He expressed his belief that big business was seeking to bust unions, and he didn’t like it. Oh yeah, I bet Palin loves unions. You betcha, you betcha. In today's market of politics, TR was a flaming liberal, despite the fact that his foreign policies were more republican and interventionist than the Democratic party. If you are looking for support from TR, I'd say, you'd lose. And by the way, McCain is the front of the ticket. Do you even care about him any more? |
